Ok, this brought on tears of laughter.....I know it shouldn't have, but it did....'my bad. I'll blame it on the emoticons and sardine waving image!!

Thank god my dog isn't the only one running off and doing as she pleases!! Yesterday after an annoying attempt to catch a particular black dog running around people, bikes, and on leash dogs (2 other WELL BEHAVED labs at that ) showing off her ball, I said in Quinn's ear "you are now on house arrest" and an elderly lady heard me and laughed. I felt somewhat better.

I'm sorry...but the mental visual of this event is quite funny!

And all this is the reason OH won't let him off lead when he walks him.

Oh my!! This does make me feel a bit better, seems all I see lately are well behaved Labs and I wonder where I've gone wrong. It seems like you're taking it all in stride which is good :D

I didn't want to press "like". Hope you've recovered your composure now. This is the sort of thing Coco might do - if he got the chance. OH won't let him off-lead, and I only do it when there's little chance of anyone else being around. Ripple is such a spirited character - got to love him.

It's a good job he isn't my first dog, I'd have never had a dog again ;).

But he was so happy and obviously really enjoying himself . I couldn't really be cross with him :).

Ripple is wonderful. He has a real joy for life. It can be a pain in the bum sometimes having these dogs of character but it can be one hell of a fun ride. Moo never ceases to amaze me she's been so cheeky today:D me and OH have been laughing at her all evening.

Sorry SteffiS, but you did make me laugh. You should write a book about Ripple and his adventures. He is such a lovely lad :)

Last night, looking for somewhere to divert Ripple's energy, inspired by @snowbunny 's thread, our gundog trainer being on holiday and some misguided thought about the intervention of fate when a link popped up on a Facebook page I was reading; I have booked Ripple in for a five week Saturday morning course of beginners agility.
Having booked him in I was then joined to a closed group where I see nearly all the other beginners are SMALL DOGS - what have I let myself in for .

Last weekend Quinn and I entered a charity dog show at a festival...we entered for "Most Obedient" and "Most Beautiful"...we placed 3rd for Most Obedient (out of 3 :cwl:). OH is still outraged she didn't place in the Most Beautiful category...

Keep your wits about you! Beginner classes often entail lead-on runs through the courses to help the dogs see what they should be doing with some guidance from the handler. This is all well and good for normal dogs but if you have an, erm, enthusiastic Labrador then it can be quite hazardous- OH ended up with various injuries after being pulled into some of the obstacles by Harvey :)
