That's really sad. We hope for a long and wonderful relationship with our dogs, I'd struggle to take a puppy, knowing it would only live 'til 6 years old. I'm selfish, too, when it comes to rescue - though the oldies really deserve a loving home for retirement, it's too painful to lose them so quickly. I know I sound harsh, but losing Scooby after less than a year really hit hard.

Very sad :( my friend has a bullmastif who just turned 7. I said aw so she is still young. To which she replied they only live to about 7 years old so not much longer.

Makes me really sad because I wanted a mastiff maybe next, but now I won’t. I couldn’t stand to lose a puppy so soon.

Us too. We have some old pink sheets that we take with us. Holly would be mortified if we didn't let her sleep between us on holiday.

I don't think youre harsh at all lossing a wonderful dog is hard at any age., but when theyve lived a long happy life it's natural, hard but expected. lossing them young and unexpectedly is so devastating you have no time to prepared yourself for the shock.I'm so sorry you lost him he was a great dog:hug:

I gave Stanley a tiny bit of peanut butter today in his kong.

    OH has given him:

    Some bacon & egg sandwich
    A sausage roll
    A rawhide

Apparently it was 100% the peanut butter that gave him the trots

Weird day. We decided that we wanted a rope, slip-lead for Ella but haven't been able to find one in the shops! I guess I'll try and buy one on ebay..

(edited to add - long story but we want a slip lead as Ella's ruined the grass with her wee. We're replacing/repairing the grass and have created a mulch area down the side of the house where we now want her to wee. As she's naked at home, we thought we'd but a cheap slip lead and leave it by the back door so that we can quickly pop it on and take her to the mulch area to wee. No risk of pulling/checks/corrections, just so that she doesn't wee on the grass. Could probably do it without a lead but we thought it would be more of a routine if we popped the lead on for toileting. Told you it was a long story.. :D)

I bought a slip lead from eBay - not for Coco - he'd strangle himself, but to keep in the car in case I come across any stray dogs. Along with a bag of salmon strips. The only time we came across a stray (so far) was in OH's car - luckily he had a spare lead which we looped through the handle.

I love that you bought a lead just in case you came across a stray :)

I just bought one off ebay but it bugged me that they were advertised as 'Caesar Millan Style'

Molly woke me at 7.30 this morning (she never does that!) by wagging outside the bedroom door so that her tail banged against it! She didn’t want to go out - just wanted to come on the bed - she’s cuddled up with me, snoozing. :)

Vanilla decided to lick me from about 120am for a good 10min. I try and ignore her, but OH hates the sound and space she occupies. She comes up and lays on the pillow between us and then starts. Anyhow OH half thought she needed the toilet, so she wanted me to take her. Vanilla will go if desperate with OH but otherwise it has to be me. I said she does not need it and will be wantijng a play. Anyhow to keep the piece I took her down, and she bolted it to her sandpit for a dig and a play. I got a blanket layed it o the lawn and next minute we both watch the sky and fall asleep. Wife is fast asleep in bed. About an hour later back to bed for us.
Yes definitely needed the toilet (but a nice moment)

Amber keeps bringing me socks. I keep looking for where she is getting them from and am completely baffled. Maybe she has a stash somewhere.
