One if my dogs walking friends left his dog with a dog walker. He thought he could trust her with the dog while he in London working for 2 dayss. She lost the dog. He raced back to home. The dog walkers speech had been strangly slured and she was clearly drunk when he arrived. She was totally unconcerned and my friend used face book and phoning dig walking friends to get word out thst she was lost. he found her after 8 hours with the help of some kind people and a really good dog warden. She was wandering in a really busy part of the city centre with lots if dangers like traffic and train tracks.a lovely family found her took her in and called the warden. he took her to the dog walker as my friend was not in (looking for his dog)and he found her unable to stand she was so drunk so he waited till M arrived. Both M and the dog warden are going to put in a report /complaint to get her de registered .Ms dog is ok she's very clingy but getting better but my friend has Been deeply upset by the whole thing. He cried when he was telling me I told him I would be the same. He thought he could trust this woman she was registered and he could have easliy lost his dog. He'll never leave his dog with anyone again.
That's shocking @SwampDonkey , sometimes I wonder if some people see dog walking and doggy daycare as easy money; also thinking of @JenBainbridge experience with her daycare.
Disgraceful! I would have been furious. I am not at all sure I could have kept my dignity with the dog walker. I would certainly go to the local newspapers and possibly sued her for breach of contract just to ensure that she never walked a dog again.
There are some really good ones round here. Ones even I might trust, very professional and trustworthy. I don't know this one but that would put me off as know most of them see them with the dogs regularly . I don't think she will get much work now as the word us out there now. The dog warden has also witnessed her behaviour
This is shocking. I am so glad you friend got his dog back safely, it could so easily have been a tragedy. It's true, dog walkers and daycare facilities seem to be springing up left right and centre, I think recommendations are essential.
On a FB group I'm a member of, someone's small dog was carried off by an eagle owl!!! Amazingly, they were reunited the next day. They don't know how far the dog was carried, or where it was dropped, but some kindly person took it in and got in touch. Amazingly, there was only slight damage, no stitches needed. More damage was done psychologically, unsurprisingly. Can you imagine?!
Whaaat?? My goodness! That happened to my friend’s guinea pig when I was little, but a dog?? So glad it was ok!
This is a massive worry of mine with Odie. When we go to our cabin he is never allowed off leash as there are too many huge prey birds that would take him no problem. Even at home we back on to forest so I worry and he can only be outside while supervised.
Well Christmas came early for my lab Saw this big teddy bear at Tesco for £8 and couldn't resist! Trying to get him to pose calmly before giving him the teddy: "ZOMG YES!!!" Commence giddy full body dancing around... Happy boy! We'll see how long this one lasts before being de-stuffed
