We've just had a massive storm where the temperature dropped from 38 to 18 degrees I'm a very short space of time. Huge amounts of lighting and horrible hail. Golf ball size, hard as rock, hail. Hail damage on both cars
Note to self: I must teach Holly that not everything fleecy is a soft toy. On this mornings walk she attacked my gloves while I was wearing them.
Uh-ho - there was a young Lab, Barney, at dog school last night. We have seen him before, but infrequently. During on-lead greetings, Coco had a good play with him, but kept humping! Coco rarely humps now, but he was such a pest last night. Then they were free-running for a short while. Coco played chasey with a couple of pals, so Alaska, a young female Husky, took over. Barney was in his element!
Last night we brought Quinn to the pet store with us and she received tons of compliments from people on her calmness and listening among the chaos...I said to OH, it's because from day 1 we brought her everywhere so there is no excitement in going busy places like there is for many other dogs, and he said 'it's all her training you've done" ...feeling like
Huh, just been watching BBC breakfast news programme, they had a lovely lab on there, to demonstrate the point that we have to be careful with all the extra food around at Christmas which could be poisonous for dogs. Absolutely correct, but had to smile when he suggested all your dog needs to eat at Christmas is his standard dog food. Yeah right, like that'll happen
The only extras my poor deprived dog will get is a sliver of meat as the joint is being cut - same as every week. And maybe some sprout peelings..
In honor of this post, I think it is right to dig out Pongo's composition for Christmas a couple of years ago. This is to be sung to the tune of "Hark the Herald Angels". I was humming the first verse on our dog walks, but he said he wanted to complete it because he wanted it to have a happy ending. Hark the Hungry Puppy Sings, Wondering what his dinner brings; Beef or chicken, whole or carved? He's not fussy, he's just STARVED. Finest lamb or basic kibble, Both will make my puppy dribble, Both will make my puppy drool, 'Cos his tummy's NEVER full. Hark, the hungry puppy sings, Wondering what his dinner brings. Pongo knows there's something up Because he's an observant pup. Little people everywhere - Sitting on his favourite chair!!! Tree indoors, but not for marking; Postie, parcels, lots of barking; Busy kitchen - looking good! (Usually that results in Food.) Hark, the Hungry Puppy Sings, Wondering what his dinner brings. Pongo stares! "What's this I see? Is that REALLY all for me?" Roasted turkey in a dish! Sweet potatoes! Bits of fish! Gravy rivers, warm and steaming! (Pongo thinks he must be dreaming) Cheese and biscuits! Ice-cream too! Every Pongo-wish come true. Happy puppy now at rest; Christmas Dinner is the BEST!
My mam has bought a turkey especially for Stanley. When I asked why.. "Well.. he just deserves it". Spoilt spoilt pupper
Yep! Us humans are getting lamb and pork. Stanleys getting a turkey crown Might as well get him a little crown as well. My mam is desperate for a grandchild if you can't tell
Oh goodness that's a lot of meat for Stanners! Lucky him, at least you can freeze it for future treats. I know the feeling, my mom is too but thankfully for us seems to have given up on ever having a human grandchild and has adopted Monty as the heir
Happy memories of our lovely Solstice, who would have been 10 today. Our headlong into everything dog, our gung-ho girl, our own black pearl, thankyou for the fun and laughter you brought to so many people. We are taking little Joy dog to the pub tonight to meet with friends and raise a glass to much loved dogs past and present.
