    13 people  11 dishes o_O

When I do curry night it's me & OH. An Aldi curry jar, microwaveable pilau and some token poppadoms :D

Haha, not a jar of Patak's in sight and I even made my own naan bread. I did have to get some mustard seeds brought over from the UK by a friend because I was running low. Does that count as a "takeaway"? :D

The full menu, if you're interested was:
    Chicken pathia
    Lamb rogan josh
    Red Thai salmon curry
    Keralan prawn curry
    Sri Lankan beetroot curry
Watermelon curry - which sounds weird, but is absolutely delicious, a hit with everyone and super simple to make
    Bombay potato and egg curry
Paneer masala (with home-made paneer because you can't buy it here)
    Sag aloo
    Lemon and cumin rice
    Naan

I was making it, thinking, "why do I do it to myself?!" :D

Oh, and I made a huge pan of prawn chowder for a friend to take home with her because she has lots of people staying with her!

Luckily, I don't sleep a lot. It makes for more hours in the day!

I think we need the recipe for watermelon curry! Although, do you have to get the pips out??

@snowbunny im very impressed. Lamb rogan josh is my ultimate fave!

I always find new reasons not to let OH on this forum. He actually thinks I'm an alright cook. I don't want him finding out otherwise.

    Watermelon curry: http://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/watermelon-curry-432283
Depending on your melon, you may need to add a touch of sugar to the sauce.

When I'm cutting the melon into chunks, I cut through the pip "line" and then just scoop them out with my fingers. It's quick and easy :)

As someone who married into a SE Asian family (Laos), let me tell you that they're not making pastes and sauces from scratch - all that stuff's being bought at the Asian supermarket. They are all amazing cooks, and lots of the meals they cook are so labour intensive, so if there's a shortcut to be had then they're bloody well taking it! It's probably different with Indian (I make a brilliant butter chicken from scratch, but it's easy as), but the Thais and Lao at least are all about pre-made curry pastes etc.

All my friends and family looked at me weird when I got a rice cooker and I had to say "you know how Asians are cooking rice? Hint - it's not in a saucepan on the stove". I  my rice cooker.

I love cooking curries from scratch and I've finally mastered naan bread. There is one exception; I cook for my 92 year old Dad and used to cook everything from scratch but then he blithely informed me that he pours tomato sauce onto all his meals including mine. WHAT? He gets Pataks now

Hah, we don’t even have jars of curry sauces and pastes in the supermarkets here. Asian supermarkets? No such thing! If I want Indian, I have little option but to make it from scratch. It doesn’t happen often! :D

Mmmm Butter Chicken - simple but oh-so-tasty. Added to my mental meal list for next week.. I'll have to have a go at making naan bread - my Indian boss was ever so horrified when I came back from Spar with a pack of naan breads. He laughed his head off.

Naan is super easy. I only made plain ones, brushed with melted butter and sprinkled with a little salt and sugar. They were yummy.

This morning after our walk I found the Pig sitting on the rug in the living room crying pitifully like her world had ended. Turned out, she had rolled around in her bed and messed up her blanket, and now she couldn’t possibly go back to bed with a messy blankey  I smoothed it out for her and she snorted in delight, leapt in head first and fell immediately asleep. I definitely have a Pig Princess!
