Yep, that was me tonight. She explains the course, then I walk it in slow motion with my imaginary dog, giving lovely clear signals and feeling elegant and like a tai chi master, and it all goes perfectly. Then we add in the ingredient of an actual dog. Ho hum. The trainer says that she always has a clear round with her imaginary dog too, so it's not just us.
We are in a holiday cottage in the Lakes for a few days with friends. Tonight we left the Pig sleeping in her bed, safely shut in the hall, for a few hours when we went for dinner to a pub. She was knackered after a long walk and gets very stressed in the car and in pubs so thought we would leave her. Came back to her still sleeping, everything looking as we left it. Apart from, the bathroom door was open when we left it shut, and an entire toilet roll is missing. We couldn’t believe she could eat an entire toilet roll with absolutely no trace and searched the house from top to bottom, but it’s the only explanation now anxiously monitoring her to see any ill effects she hasn’t done something like this for ages, I’m slightly in shock!
Oh dear....a whole toilet roll? Nothing surprises me with a Labrador . Maxx nicked a piece of turkey wrapped in cling wrap off the kitchen bench this morning - from an area he couldn't reach a few days ago. We panicked about the cling wrap but it then magically appeared in his mouth. So he has either managed to separate the turkey from the plastic in his mouth, or he regurgitated it . I'm sure some went down though, so some anxious days ahead.
Wow Lara, you've mentioned The Pig's penchant for tissues, but an entire toilet roll is quite the achievement! Robyn, when Xena ate something from the bench (cling and all, probably at the same age as Max) the cling came out a couple of days later in her poo. There have been many stories on here of dogs eating cling, and it all come out the bum safe and sound
Phew, thanks. I had to buy my lunch today! Good one Maxximus naughtiness. I remember when our first lab Benson ate a whole big plastic bag we, er, had to help it out. Ugh but today's episode is just a small piece of cling wrap so hopefully nature won't need intervention.
Ooop! Coco's weakness is bars of soap. If I don't fiirmly shut the bathroom door when he's home alone, he rifles through the drawers, knocking them over and smashing the toothbrush pot which sits on top, and scoffs the soap.
Just catching up on this news today - congratulations! There's nothing like having a dog around as an excuse for putting a fractious baby in its pram/buggy and going off for a good walk! It does wonders for one's sanity! The Pig will make a lovely big sister - not sure about her evil twin, though!
No, it wasn't the beautiful Pig, it was that evil twin! You'll have to ban her from watching the Andrex adverts...
We actually couldn’t believe she could eat a whole toilet roll with literally no tiny scraps left anywhere on the carpet. My friend’s theory was that she had been playing with it and accidentally threw it out the window. OH thought there wasn’t a toilet roll there in the first place and that we had hallucinated it somehow. We actually held a mock court case to review the evidence against the Pig. Unfortunately several witnesses reported seeing her carrying a toilet roll around in previous days before being apprehended. She also received a damning character reference regarding previous pocket-snorkelling convictions. Court was adjourned, but conclusive evidence against the defendant emerged today, namely a poo that was 98% papier-mâché. The Pig sentenced to a lifetime restraining order around paper-based goods.
I met the cutest, bestest little dog on my walk this morning - a Shih Tzu/Griffon and it was AMAZING. Looked like a little ewok
My Labradors seem to have been replaced with hippos whilst I've been away. Hippodor? Labrapotamus? Boot camp starts today!
I do! I do! I do! We so nearly didn't get Coco. Only for OH's persistence (and we don't know why he went back to this day) did we find he failed his trial with someone else...some things are meant to be
We had our first meal out together yesterday since we got Maxx! We have been leaving him alone for short times that we gradually lengthened and now he is fine for a few hours. It was Anzac day which is such a special day here; it's the anniversary of when the Australian and New Zealand troops landed in Gallipoli and there are ceremonies and parades all around the country to remember our war heroes. So we walked to our local club and had lunch then played two-up (it's the only day of the year it is legal) and had lots of fun - we won $80 between us! That more than paid for our lunch . You would think a combination of some drinks + gambling would spell trouble, but on Anzac day even the most bogan of the bogans seem to have respect for their fellow man.
