It's all about the loose lead :). The hand that holds the lead is the same one that pushes the pram so if Ella went running, the pram would end up on toppling over. I had the pram up on two wheels on quite a few occasions in the past

Another proud moment this morning..On our lead walk we came across the man with the big Springer Spaniel and his wife who had the young Golden Retriever, coming towards us on the opposite side of the (narrow) road. The GR was barking and grumbling (to say hello to Coco). Previously I have placed Coco in a sit, or ducked behind a wall, and done distraction exercises. Today, I held a piece of roast beef to his nose and we walked past, with lots of praise and encouragement. I even managed to call out a "Good Morning" too! Not a lunge, not a bark, Coco walked on by. He was heavily rewarded with praise, beef and ear rubs.
Second time we've passed a dog without fuss :D:D I'm beginning to feel like a normal dog walker.

Had one of those doggie dilemma things today. I saw a 7 month old lab bitch running around on the park. Her tail position looked strange one back leg didn't move well and he lower back looked stiff. I thought oh oh something not good going on there. I got talking to the owner and was friendly. I didn't mention the back thing but watched the dog and am now very suspicious about her back end. I know young dogs can be a bit wobbly sometimes but i am concerned i think I'll just be friendly and see if anything crops up in conversation. I really hate it when you see something you know is bad but can't jump in without upsetting or frightenening and owner. I not one of those you should do this and that people believe it or not I'm very retiring

Does anyone try and sneak out of the living to the kitchen when they just need more water or to stir something so as not to disturb the dog?

Alfie always gets up to follow me and sometimes he looks so comfy and Im just popping to the kitchen for a second but he gets up follows me lies down then i go back to the living room and up he gets to follow me again. I feel bad!

I can't tell you how rewarding he is. It's taken us so long to get here, but the journey is amazing. I love Coco so much :)

I love my great big boy. Just sayin'.
When I sit on the bench in the garden he gets up beside me to sit and his head is just level with mine; and we both look out over the valley with our heads together and watch / sniff the world go by.

Much relief here this morning ! Nells microchip certificate has landed , at last x Its been a bit of a nightmare changing ownership , as the previous owner couldn't find the details , then it transpired that she hadn't updated her details from the owner before . I`ve really been on pins , but an e mail to Petlog from the previous owner , explaining the situation and confirming that we now own her, was acceptable and the paperwork sent to me for change of keepership . All official now , and registered to me at last x

I thinking about a pup. I thinking about a cocker working or show not sure. Would love another lab but I'm not sure about the size and if I can manage one.

My show cocker (blue roan) was the easiest puppy/dog I've had. Never had a working cocker but the ones I've seen do look much higher energy.

was coat care hard ? Any recommended reading. I met a few working cockers too I like them but I think their exercise needs maybe too much for me

I was a bit lazy with grooming and sent her to be clipped (leaving feathers) about 4 times a year. I know cockers are supposed to be hand stripped but she was a pet not a show dog and this seemed the best way at the time. I did need to comb her ears every few days to prevent matting but she was a little angel about having it done.

We found the sweetest stray dog this afternoon. A small Border Collie, no collar, just walking along a main road (which passes over moor-like countryside, no houses/farms/buildings near by). He was going the opposite way - STOP THE CAR shouts I. I jumped out and this sweet boy came to me, seemingly delighted to have found a human. We bundled him into the car, he stank of cow muck, and took him to the ManxSPCA. They though they knew him, so hopefully he's home now (though it didn't sound like the best home - a farmer with a less-than-caring attitude last time the dog absconded). We'd already fallen in love & said "if no one claims him please consider us". He was such a dear thing, he gave me licky-kisses from the back seat as we were driving along - cow poo & all.

How about a Cavalier? They have a Lab personality in a smaller package :)

When I was out walking Stanley today a little Staffie appeared. It looked quite young and was wagging its tail so I just carried on walking.

His owner then appeared and practically screeched HE'S REALLY FRIENDLY - DON'T BE ALARMED! He looked really panicked! Stanley went to say hello and I let him and they had a nice play for a while.

The man was so grateful - he said the dog never gets to play because others won't let him and he thinks it's because of his breed. He was such a lovely little dog - it made me sad thinking of him not getting to play :(

I told the man I hoped we saw him again so they could have a play again.
