I'm dreading it when we go in July, and Stanleys going to his nanas. Pongo will have a whale of a time! Enjoy your holiday x
I managed to walk round our whole block with Rolo on loose lead, pretty focused on me but not just looking for a treat. Wow. Admitted there were no dogs as distractions but hey a wins a win.
I had the most beautiful walk with Rory today. He behaved wonderfully we played in the river it was magical. That's why I love my dogs a simple walk made special. We just kept smiling at each other just 2 fool's wandering happy to be together in the rain
HaHa! Dog school is held in an indoor horse arena, complete with nesting birds at this time of year. Which dog tried to fill his boots on the dead bird ? Yep - Loki the young Labrador pup. His mum did manage to swap it for a treat, which I was impressed with.
I was so proud of Molly this evening. I took her to the silver class I teach and she just lay down on her mat and chilled while I got on with it, despite having several quite noisy dogs tonight. When I called her to demonstrate she came to heel immediately and then went back to lie down when told to. I think she feels comfortable in this hut as she's being going there weekly since she was a puppy and so can relax.
Coco goes from strength to strength at dog-school. Lots of exercises tonight involving passing other dogs. PLUS a recall from dogs. He was a star. Oh, and OH too.
If I had a wish I think I'd use it to get Stanley to talk. I'd love to know what he'd say and what he thinks.
OH's sister in law just made an appointment for her dog with an animal communicator for that very reason! I'm eagerly waiting to hear the results!
We do "Ze Frank" with Xena's thoughts all the time (google Sad Dog Diary), it's really good fun. Most of her thoughts have to do with food, mainly being starved of it
This is a video of a Labrador giving himself a shower. It is short, and will hopefully give you a big giggle like it did me. That tush waggle when he finds the right spot, ahhhhh, just right. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=2758669747489400
So today Stanley went out with his Nana for a walk. Apparently he sat his bum down firmly on the floor and refused to walk any further. So his nana asked someone to go into Greggs to get him a sausage roll to bribe him with to walk and he sharpish walked then! Of course he did, that dog knows exactly what he's doing
I went into a shop and left my mum outside with Doug i told him to stay. it started to rain and she tried to move him to shelter but he would not move. I'd asked him to stay and he wasn't moving. He always did have a solid stay mum was amused but annoyed and a bit damp. I miss him he was funny
We ended up having a dreadful walk the other day. I stopped to have a chat with another dog owner, when this guy coming running up to us with a lead in his hand looking very distraught as his dog had escaped as he opened his front door. Both of us took his details and promised to keep a look out. He was closely followed by his girlfriend who was hysterical, screaming and shouting and so distressed. She was running round the woods in her vest top, pj bottoms and no shoes. I tried to console her but to no avail, 20 minutes later I could still her her screaming, by this time I was heading home and saw her running in the street and then rolling round the floor and being pulled by her boyfriend. A police van happened to be driving passed so I flagged it down. They told me they had put her in the van but let her go because she was so distraught and needed to look for her dog so the wpc's we're driving around the area looking for the dog. I really hope the outcome is a happy one. I have never seen anyone have true hysterics before and I never want to again. Sorry for the long post the whole experience made me so sad.
Very sad. I hope they found the dog and she was ok. Its horrible seeing someone so upset. Hope you're ok too
Oh Claire, I hope that they found the dog and that the woman gets some counselling. Her reaction was not a healthy one, and I daresay she made the whole situation worse. On another note, had a fabulous walk with Xena this morning. Her first off-lead walk in weeks (she's usually on the Flexi but today we went somewhere different) and she was great. If I saw a dog in the distance or coming towards us I quickly leashed her up so that we could do a controlled, polite greeting/not bolt off to say hi. We also met a Neopolitan Mastiff! Only 10 months, but massive and very calm and friendly. And today emphasised that Xena's a weirdo. Part of the walk was along a beach. She could not have been less interested in the water, probably didn't even make it closer than 2 metres to it. Why would she get in the water when she could investigate all the delicious smells at the high tide mark? It was almost comical - I must have removed over a dozen apples from her mouth, not to mention all the apples I had to pull her away from. I could probably loan her out to MPI (Ministry of Primary Industries) - she'd be a great fruit detector dog for their border control team.
