Hi all - I am new to this site and hoping for some advice. Our lab puppy George is 7 months old and is on a raw diet - we buy this from a very reputable company in complete frozen packs and he loves it. A month ago he had a bout of sickness and diarrhea and we fed him boiled chicken and rice until he was over it. But this morning he's got the runs again, and now we're wondering a) if that's normal for a boisterous puppy who has his nose (and sometimes mouth) into everything on his walks, or b) if the raw diet isn't agreeing with him. We were at the vets for a check-up yesterday and we had to wait ages and he did get very stressed, and was climbing all over me trying to get out. And so maybe it's stress? I just don't know, but is 2 bouts of a very runny tummy in one month normal? Grateful for any advice!

Did the vet have any suggestions?
Mine used to have a lot of stomach issues but has been fine since switching to raw?He does not tolerate raw chicken though(he used to have it cooked to settle diarrhoea) Beef seems to be the other one they struggle with. Toby has duck turkey and salmon in complete meals from Nutriment.
If he eats on walks maybe get him checked for Campylobacter or Giardia. Both require stool samples being sent of.
If you are in the UK and on Facebook check out the Raw feeding Uk site. There is a lot of useful information/links to articles on there.

Thanks very much for your reply - hopefully he's just picked something up on one of his walks. He's certainly himself and full of beans and dragging his usual stick around the park! The vets yesterday was just a quick health check as we've moved vets to one nearer home, but he really did get stressed out with the waiting the other dogs there, and I've googled a lot today and it does seem stress gives dogs the runs. He hasn't been sick so I'm wondering if it's just stress. Will keep an eye on him and give him boiled chicken today I think and see how he is tomorrow - many thanks, I'll join the Facebook page now!

Could be a food intolerance. My lab can no longer eat chicken. Happened around 12-13 months. Very sick. Interesting how he's okay with turkey.

Stress can definitely cause runny poops. Try not to wait in the waiting room at the vet office with your dog. Leave him in the car until they're ready for him...
