I don't know if it works for all dogs, but my boy wouldn't touch kongs at first either. I did manage to get him hooked easily enough though...

    Best of luck with it.

I don't know if this helps but we have been looking at this range of raw feed, and were thinking of supplementing with our own raw feed that we can use here. Not sure if we are going to go down this route just yet, but it did look interesting.

There is also some advice on how much to feed your dog based on percentage body weight. The company have a 5 star review in the all about dog food site. Just something we are also looking into at the moment. :) The all about dogs review site also works out how much it will cost to feed your dog based on weight. I was surprised how cheap it works out compared to the current brand I use.

Kath, there is another supplier called Landywoods www.landywoods.co.uk that sell raw dog food and reasonably priced. I am going to buy some ribs, carcasses etc. for my dogs. They deliver too :) x

We are great Kong fans here. Molly gets half her food in frozen Kongs and the rest in treat balls, Buster Cubes etc and hand fed whilst training.

I always base our Kongs on Kibble, but throw in anything that might appeal (which with a lab is just about everything☺️). Initially I made them rather too wet and they made an awful mess, but I've mastered the technique of just enough liquid to soften the kibble.

So after Jakes visit to vets he is 2kg over weight and vet has recommended the Barf diet for a month and then go back and have him weighed .

Now for us it is way to expensive but Landywoods prices for offal are cheaper than our current butcher just a shame they wont deliver to North East England . So we will have to go to our butchers tomorrow and hunt out the best deals .

So i assume as much variety as possible is key so a good mix of offal , chicken and beef cheek along with tripe and add some mixed vegetables , Some of his daily ration which we will place in kongs to see him through the day when we are at work .

Might be getting some where now with his diet and increasing his exercise although he was averaging 4 miles a day most week days then 6-7 miles each day at weekends , Now taking him swimming twice a week as well .

If you can get rabbit it is generally nice and lean. Heart is good, as has been mentioned. :)
