Guys Bob has has the runs now for over a week.. he did a couple more solid ones yesterday eve and this morning, but his latest offering is really sloppy and mucusy(sp)... what do I do? Shall I take the sample back with me to the vets today??? She said if it wasn't much better to go back... mucusy poo can't be good? What could it be? Thanks for your help. Lou x
Re: really sloppy mucus poo Yes back to the vet, could be many things some easily cured some life long problems only the vet will be able to diagnose though.
Re: really sloppy mucus poo Back to the vet with a poo sample (sometimes they don't want one, sometimes they want 3 over different days, but take it anyway), and don't hang around. The best sorted with a small pup, the better.
Re: really sloppy mucus poo Yup, it is like that with small pups, they will have the squits just because you look at them sideways They are young and have an immature digestive system. But at that age it is best to be on the safe side and pop along to the vet's. Always a dilemma with a young pup. Do I want to risk missing something that really is amiss with them versus I don't want to look like a neurotic woman.
Re: really sloppy mucus poo
I don't want to look like a neurotic woman.
I don't think the vet will mind. That's how he afford to go on holiday to the Caribbean three times a year
Re: really sloppy mucus poo Well I called the vet and she said as he'd been checked over earlier this week, to give it one more day. She said to collect today's event and the next ones as well just in case things don't improve and I need to take them to the vet for analysis. Last night and this morning, I would have said he was on the mend, things were how shall I say... 'firming up nicely'. My Protexin Pro-Fibre has now arrived so I told the vet that and gave him a scoop with his lunch, she said that may help too. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00BEXP5MA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Bob is now officially called 'He's Costing Me a Bob'... new name...! Re: really sloppy mucus poo Hi, We have had a similar problem with out little Ozzie, and he actually had Giardia, which kept reoccurring and we had to go to a different vets to get a specialist opinion and they gave him new tablets which have sorted him out, but he now has a super sensitive stomach, even the smallest of things make him poorly, so he is on a strict diet of what he eats now and is finally on track! I really hope you can get Bob sorted, I know the feeling of him costing a bob or two, luckily our insurance have been brilliant and we have only paid £75.00 excess, so far and have claimed 3 times now. Hope Bob is feeling better
Re: really sloppy mucus poo
Bob is now officially called 'He's Costing Me a Bob'... new name...! Lou x
;D ;D ;D We had Giardia at 5 months too....to be honest if he's the same tomorrow I'd be going in with photos and a sample and asking for it to be tested ....
Re: really sloppy mucus poo We seem to be having a few "sloppy" poos too. Ruby will have a perfect nice, small, well formed poo and then 2-3 minutes late go somewhere else and it's sloppy. I would say more often than not he poo is very soft rather than "firm" (too much info, sorrry!). Thought may be we were over feeding so cut down a little but not helped much. She does only go 3-5 times a day now though which is better!!!
