jasper will be 6 month in 11 days time, i will be reducing his food, from 3 times a day to twice a day, ..... do i do this gradually over days or do i just stop the lunch time feed? he is growing up way to fast
Re: reducing food Others might recommend a different approach, but I'd probably just move straight to two meals. Are you planning on reducing the overall quantity or just the number of meals it's divided over? I give my dogs two meals a day for life (once they cut down from three meals). They love getting their meals so much, I like giving them that enjoyment twice a day, even if it means a smaller meal each time Hard to believe how fast they grow, isn't it? One of my workmates just got a Wolfhound puppy and at 12 weeks it already weighed more than my 1 yr old Labrador!!
Re: reducing food Lynne I just put Dexter straight onto twice at 6 months,he didn't seem to think anything of it.He's 8 months now and last weekend his poops were a bit runny so I reduced his food a little and put him back onto 3 for 2 days and when he was firmer just switched him back to the 2 again with no ill effects.i like giving him 2 meals because it feels like I am giving him more! It seems to be a bit more like a substantial bowl of food......mind you,it's still gone in the time it takes me to take a step back from him!
Re: reducing food the quantity will stay the same, it will just go from 3 times a day to twice a day,...... i am told the first 6 month are the hardest, i got to admit i have not found it easy, puppies are very hard work got to work on his training now , he seems to be doing well with training ...... he is due a weigh in 2 weeks , estimated over 25 kilo, he is a big boy
Re: reducing food i am looking forward to feeding him twice a day, all i seem to do is feed and pick poop up so next week twice a day , thank you
Re: reducing food Hi Lynne , yes I did the same , they tend to just accept it because they have had a bigger breakfast
