Well, hopefully he will just start sleeping longer as he matures. If your Dad is happy to get up I'd leave him to it and see what happens.
@Xena Dog Princess Though he is technically my dog, it's more than likely he will stay in my parents' large house with the yard when I eventually move out in a few years. I don't expect to be in a dog-friendly financial situation straight off the bat, so I'd prefer he remain in this lovely house. But I'm not going anywhere for a while. @Boogie I suppose that's what I'll have to do! Hoping that happens sooner than later...
