Does anyone give their dogs rest days if they have had a particularly busy day the day before?
Murphy (11 months) had a much longer walk than he's used to yesterday as got a bit lost in the countryside and then spent the evening playing with my 2 young cousins and as we were out had a much later bedtime. I can tell he's really tired as he's literally been sleeping all day and hasn't tried to play or anything so I was wondering if it matters if he doesn't get much of a walk today? Prob just 20 mins round the block later rather than his usual 45-60 min run around in Salisbury plains.

I give Penny a rest day sometimes if we've done something extra long the day before, but it's more because of her hips - she had hip dysplasia and I think she's probably sore the day after doing something out of the ordinary. She's only 14months old.

I sometimes give Harley rest days where we don't go out for a walk at all. We play on the garden and on the house and it actually gives me a good opportunity to do some proofing :)

    Lilly gets rest days.
I will have to remember that terminology. ;D
Mostly its because I am being it a bit lazy (and slightly resentful that no-one else is helping with the walks)
As long as she gets at least one 20-30 minute walk and she still gets fed, she doesn't seem to mind.

I have days when Benson doesn't have so much exercise, mainly because he is still young, and I don't want to overdo it on the exercise front. On those days I focus more on obedience, so shorter more frequent walks, but more emphasis on lead walking, keeping his attention and fun games :)

We have human rest days. Obi would prefer never to have a rest day :)

Yep. Our rest days also coincide with when I'm feeling lazy, not just if we've done several miles extra the day before! Penny's usually quite content to curl up on the sofa with me.

I've never tried a rest day as we have never really needed one, dexters excercise amount and content is pretty predictable and consistent .....however he is a really chilled out boy in the house ,just lazes round and snoozes when there isn't any action going on so I think he would cope with a rest day or 2 ;D
