Last week saw an awful tragedy not far from where we live , when a fishing boat capsized . Two men , the skipper and his mate were rescued after they were spotted clinging to the upturned hull , thankfully both alive but a third man , the skippers Dad was missing and later found dead in the water . My husband used to have a fishing boat in his fitter days , and I know how I used to hate him being at sea , with the unforgiving forces of nature , but the skippers Dad lost his life doing what he wanted to do and loved . With the three men that day was Donnie , a spaniel belonging to the skipper , always with them but he was missing . Like numerous others , we went out with binoculars , scouring the coastline in the hope that Donnie has made it to shore, he was a fit young dog , but the boat was about three miles out . Yesterday , Donnies body was found on the beach at Whitsand Bay and the family have now collected him and taken him for cremation . They must be going through hell with the loss of their close relative but are taking some small comfort that at least Donnie was found and they can say their goodbyes , very sad indeed x
Ah, that is so sad but at least they know what happened to him, although so tragic. Would have been awful to never know and forever wonder.
