no he looks happy and waggy :)

I think he'd have just come back to you and left his ball if he was worried. I only mentioned it because when he couldn't touch the ground he turned round to re-find his footing. Shelving ponds are great for this, they almost don't even realise they're swimming after a bit.

But honestly he looks happy as a clam !!

I think you should be very proud of him, I loved his determination to get the ball, I think he did very well indeed. :)

Only one thing I would change and that is to take his harness off when in the water. It was OK in that pond, but in deeper water you never know what is underneath and he could get caught up. I always take my dogs' collars off if they are going in water.

    Re: retrieving

Ah Lynne he looks like he is having a great time...and I forget he is pretty much full grown now....he's not a puppy any more is he? He looks really great and I'm glad you've got him in and happy about it...I agree with Barabra he does really look happy and waggy.I worry that Dexter is a bit scared because he wrinkles his forehead when he is swimming...Chris thinks is it concentration ;D Dexter will not retreive though like that,he gives up and he won't put his face in the salt water...( which I don't mind to be honest ,it is so strong and brutal on their tummies)he uses his paw to pat the thing I've thrown in out the water ;D he likes to have a paddle around with me though ;D....bet that doesn't encourage you to join him in that pond does it :D brrrrrrghhhh! X
