OH has gone to the UK for a week. I'm know I'll miss him...

BECAUSE HE HAS TAKEN POPPY WITH HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot remember the last time I was alone in the house without a dog. Even years ago when I lived alone after splitting up from ex-husband, I had my two old dogs to keep me company. It is really weird without Poppy - I keep worrying that I have to run home to take her out (instead of which I went shopping, bought a new pair of sandals and not one, but TWO dresses - every cloud has a silver lining). I threw away my left-over chicken skin from my dinner last night for the first time in forever. I had no-one to cuddle on the couch, and no reason to get up and go for a walk before work this morning. Worst of all, there was no snuggly pup to share my bed!!

Sigh. Roll on next Wednesday when they come back!

Oh, I know that feeling. I spend a tiny bit of time thinking "great, I can leave my shoes on the floor" and then start missing him like crazy.....

Hope the time goes quickly. But try to enjoy the shopping all the same. :)

Could you not have frozen the chicken skin and then re-crisped it for her return? Not that I'd do that kind of thing, you understand, because my two aren't spoilt. Oh no. Not at all.

I feel an impulse buy of one of these coming on, so your bed doesn't feel so empty: http://www.toysrus.com/buy/jumbo-siz...b-2166-2375745

Even when Gemma went in for her spay, just one day, I knew having an empty house would knock me for six. So I tactically arranged for a friend to visit for a couple of days, it sooo helped take my mind off things!

Throwing out perfectly good offcuts or excess leftovers is a really weird feeling....

That and not having your socks and shoes nicked every 10 seconds.

It's also weird not having anyone trying to lick your feet dry when you get out of the shower.

Or was that too much information???

And being able to arrive somewhere and realise that your clothes are NOT covered in labrador slobber/peanut butter as you didn't have to spend time doing Kongs and crating before you left home...

Aw, poor little girl. And to think, you deprived that face of chicken skin. I think a whole roast chicken is in order for her return ...

Oh, no, I know that feeling poor you, hope the time passes super quick. You could always do some more shopping. My OH said the other day who would you miss most me or Mabel. I paused, he said I knew it Mabel.

So you are missing your dog more than you are missing your husband? Sounds perfectly reasonable to me

    Bless you both
My hubby just walked behind me and said 'whose bed is Harley on?' Took a few mins to prove it wasn't Harley

I have to say, the house is almost unnaturally clean and tidy... No dog hair! Flying in the face of nature, I say...

Naya, I think Harley is a shade darker than Pops, and more uniform in colour. But very funny your hubby just assumed it was her on someone else's bed...

I hate the house without the dogs in it. I am NOT a morning person but I happily give up lying in bed for having dogs. I had a shopping trip when I was without dogs recently. Couldn't shake the nagging feeling I had to get back either :)

Pops definitely looks like she's missing you :)

Lying in bed with dogs is surely the perfect solution.....

How many days until Pops is back?

Perhaps someone can construct a countdown calander, bit like an Advent Calander, for those of us away from our dogs.

Come on Fiona, right up your Alley

I'm thinking that either that is a bit of a teensy single bed, or Poppy is much bigger than I imagined her.
Either way, does that mean OH has had a few sleepless nights squished up with her ladyship and getting grouchy?
