I had to leave Arnie for an hour or so yesterday. He went in his crate. When I got back my wife was looking less than impressed, dragging his torn up mattres out of his crate (she got home five minutes before me). He's 8 months old now and has never done that before. Little monster
Are you still concerned about Arnie's separation issues? Is that what the bed ripping was, do you think?
Yeah it did cross my mind. But it's been raining heaps here the last two days and I haven't been able to really do anything with him. We usually go walking or swimming (he swims I watch). So maybe it was him also just having lots of energy and being bored.

Champ had separation issues when he was younger, he used to rip his bed up. Until we got his crate he used to rip the kitchen walls apart. The crate we got him was the best thing we ever got, he loves it! He doesnt chew his beds or blankets anymore.
Gunnar, now 6.5 months and 73 lbs. also has never chewed his bedding in his crate, actually has never chewed much. My granddaughter gave him 2 stuffed animal puppies for his crate when he was first brought home. They are both still intact! He loves to sleep with them, licks the big ones ears. It's adorable to watch. He isn't left alone much and gets lots of attention and is only crated 2-3 hours maybe 3 times a week if that. There are 5 of us to keep tabs on him. I've read on different threads about others labs eating furniture and such and am thankful that's not Gunnar
I am having such a hard time finding a good crate bed for our Finley who is also 6.5 months. At times she has chewed holes in her blankets. We leave lots of chew toys for her, but she still seems to chew those blankets. This only started about 2 weeks ago.
Yeah it's weird how you buy them chew toys but they still decide to chew stuff they shouldn't. I left Arnie with chews and he still ruined his bed. Got him a new one now and he hasn't wrecked it
Jesse is almost 16 week he drags his out of his crate and beats it up but he hasn't chewed it up yet. We only usually close the crate at night and if we have to go to the store. His trainer told us if he destroys it to remove not let him eat it. So far so good, it depends what mood he is in at times.
Mine never a bed in the crate or house until they are about 2 years old or until that urge to chew has gone. it seems to be a normal thing to eat their beds and test their new teeth on everything
Saba has trashed two beds, and now when I put a mat in either his bed crate or travel crate, he scrunches them out of the way. I guess he's not a dog for a comfortable bed!
They get hot Rory does the same. He sleeps on the tile floor and doesn't do comfy beds the're for softies.
