I am new at this and don't know if I have the right place. Well, my name is Roger and my golden doodle is Rusty and is 12 years old. My vet put him on Gabapentin and I also take Gabapentin 300mg, which is a yellow capsule. The gabapentin the vet put my dog on is white and brown and says it is 300mp. I think this could be a mistake as I think if it is brown and white, it is a different dosage. I would like to know if I am right before I give that higher dosage to my dog and it harms him. Please help me.

    Hi Roger,

It is possible that they are both 300mg doses, but under different brand names, or produced by different pharmaceutical companies.

However, and I can't stress this enough, we strongly recommend that you do not give medicines prescribed to you to your dog (or take any medicines prescribed to him yourself!)

They might contain other ingredients which are not safe for him, or be designed to breakdown and be absorbed at a rate which is not appropriate for dogs.

To keep him safe and well, stick to giving him his own medicines, as prescribed by his vet :)
