My gorgeous girl Luna is 15 weeks old and developed diarrhea on Monday. They're didn't seem any reason for it. No change of food etc. Sorry if you are eating but need to describe.... At first it was normal colour but a bit loose. Took her to the vets on Thursday who has given her Promax to settle her stomach and panacur granules as a wormer and recommended chicken and rice. She is not ill of herself but her poos are now yellow and literally like water. The medication finishes tomorrow. A friend has suggested with that colour poo it looks like it might be something she has eaten and even mentioned parvo as we had cats two years ago??? I'm due back at the vets on Tuesday.
Both my dogs have recently been poorly with tummy bugs over Christmas and New Year. They started with runny poo, then liquid poo, then vomiting. The vets said they had been inundated with dogs with D&V. Anyway, they both got anti-sickness shots, and it cleared up. Eventually. It did drag on, and I got very tired of it. They kept having poo accidents in the house, and clearing up vomit at 3am is just exhausting. Charlie is 3.5 years, and Betsy is 8 months. Both healthy very robust dogs. They came to no harm although Charlie in particular felt very sorry for himself for a couple of days and stopped eating. Betsy didn't stop eating, although I think that made the whole thing last longer. Charlie recovered quicker after not eating at all for a day. So, of course Luna might have something serious and it's good you have taken her to the vet. But also it could just be a tummy bug. It's really more likely not to be something serious. Keep a close eye on her, try to keep her drinking, and go back to the vets if she seems dehydrated or becomes very listless. My best tip to get a dog to drink is to whisk some tuna flakes into a bit of water with the water from the can. The tuna flakes sink, and the dog drinks the water to get to the tuna. If the dog isn't allowed to eat at all you can remove the bowl before he gets to the tuna but that's a bit mean (I used to do this to make Charlie drink on days when he needed his ops though).
We are still having problems, been back to the vets several times. Now waiting for stool sample analysis to come back
