Actually, I posted a video of me doing some desensitisation work on nail filing with Shadow to a FB group about positive husbandry. Someone on there noticed how much he was licking my hands and said it could be a sign of stress. Which is perfectly true, but I was like, "Um, it's because my hands are covered in smoked salmon and prawn"

What?? I've never heard of this? I suppose it wouldn't be a problem for us here in Europe, since we mostly get salmon from the Atlantic (or farmed from Scotland), and if we did get any Pacific salmon it would be frozen...

Poppy adores salmon... We are having some tonight and she will get the skin and maybe a little bit of leftovers...

Do you give her the skin all "floppy", or do you crisp it up? Poor Xena, I've been throwing the skin away!

Mine get floppy skin, and gobble it up. A good source of their fish oils from what would be waste. Yummers!

    Sacrilege!!

Salmon skin goes straight down the hatch or in a low oven to crisp.
    Always!

Yesterday I bought salmon steaks for our supper - Poppy got the skin (floppy). But - big excitements - the fishmonger had the tail end of the salmon for sale, so I bought it for 2 euro. She had half of it this morning (raw), and will have the other half tomorrow. I chickened out of buying the head though - it was so big...

Salmon heads are a real treat! I scoop the cheeks out for us first, though :D

Do you give the whole head, Fiona, at one sitting? Apart from the cheeks...

Well, with two dogs I split it in half, otherwise I'd have one disgruntled pup! :D
They are quite big, so I'd say half is plenty.
