Re: Sardine dispenser
Is that OH muttering or Charlie? *snigger*
Charlie of course! Fancy giving the pot to OH to lick out - that's Charlie's job! ;D ;D ;D
Re: Sardine dispenser I've got one! Tatze's favourite treat just now is low fat cream cheese, so that's what I'm using and the dispenser is brill brill! ;D ;D ;D
Re: Sardine dispenser Bringing back to life the LSD thread! I still use the sardine dispenser occasionally for recall -just to keep the 'jackpot' up to date. ;D I use these pouches with an elastic round when filled, to make them narrower. http://www.amazon.co.uk/KOKO-Baby-Pouches-Pre-Sterilised-Months/dp/B008USFXGU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1423477235&sr=8-1&keywords=baby+food+pouches
Re: Sardine dispenser That's great! AND they deliver to Andorra! Woohoo! Except ... they're a top-up item. So now I have to go buy something else, too. Damn this forum and it's money-spending ways!

They are Bella's fave but the thought of stinky fingers has meant they haven't come out on walks yet... ;D
Re: Sardine dispenser ;D ;D ;D I need a modification to the LSD filling system... I bought a "squeeze and fill" system, but it's bloomin' hard work getting the sardines in...takes ages...suggestions welcome... image by julieandcharlie, on Flickr
Re: Sardine dispenser Potential to fill from the other end? Cut off the sealed base area, spoon in the sardines as you like and use a plastic heat seal unit to reseal the bag. You need to keep the area you are going to reseal clear of any filling to get a good seal. The bags won't last as long as they will with filling via the spout but would be easier perhaps and you'd get a few uses from the bags.
Re: Sardine dispenser Hmmm...don't have a plastic heat seal unit...although you make a good point, I could go back to the original reusable pouches with the screw tops...
Re: Sardine dispenser The bags I get have a side opening, then, when full, I put an elastic round to keep it narrower and to keep the food from the side opening
Re: Sardine dispenser I wonder whether you might try putting the sardine paste in an ice cube tray to create little blocks that can be frozen...although I realise they might not stay frozen all the way thru your training...just a thought. I've been buying dog food in pouches to give my dog a jackpot reward but I'm now definitely going to buy buy sardines and give thema try.
Re: Sardine dispenser We use sardines but in a cake mixture, I haven't yet perfected the recipe, but this is how I make it ....to date I think Benson's and Casper's favourite! I use x2 tins sardines (in sunflower oil with the excess drained) oats (80g) and either gram flour (chick pea) or spelt flour (100g) honey 1 tablespoon, one egg,(medium)and to finish a tablespoon fresh parmesan cheese and about 80 -100 mls water. I mix the sardines/honey/water (heated with the honey) together then bung the whole thing in the blender/processor until the mixture gets to a sticky consistency then pop in a baking tray in the oven on a medium heat for about 25 mins. I take it out slice into cubes then back in the oven to dry out a bit more. I pop the whole lot in a tupperware container and store in the fridge.
