    Oh no!
I missed this yesterday. He had an op?
What a poor boy. You must be so worried. Vet sounds the best place for him right now.
I do hope they get him back to his usual self ASAP.
    Xxx

He had a fatty lump removed Jacqui. We don't think this is related - just coincidence.

Ah....I recall that now. Doesn't seem likely does it.
Fingers crossed the vets can sort it and he is home soon.

No change this morning. Still eating and happy to get up for a walk, but runs out of energy. Repeat exam by a different vet still shows nothing obvious. Repeat bloods, then ultrasound scan. Had "that" discussion with OH over our breakfast, what if? So sad to contemplate - but we're not giving up yet.

Has the vet discussed the possibility of a hermangiosarcoma, which is a tumour of the spleen or blood vessels. This kind of tumour has a big blood supply and can bleed internally (can be a sudden haemorrhage) and lead to anaemia and shortness of breath/weakness. Don't want to set you off on a wild goose chase or unnecessary worry.... But am just wondering if either vet has mentioned this.

No..but I think that's what they are thinking. My friends chocolate lab died of this very suddenly, then shortly after, one of my bosses labs also died of this. I must admit I had a sleepless night thinking of hemangisarcomas. We'll see what the scan brings.

Ultrasound didn't show anything. Bloods slightly worse. He is definitely producing red blood cells - but they are disappearing. Vet definitely leaning towards autoimmune disorder. They said they would expect some response to the medication with 24-48hrs - he's been in for 48hrs now and nothing. There have been a lot of tears shed today.
