Our 9 month golden lab will pretty much chew through anything we give him very quickly. Luckily for us he has never tried to chew furniture or shoes or clothes, yet! We've given him an array of things like stuffed toys, rope chews and chew bones, he doesn't last five minutes with stuffed toys or rope-like toys! We've recently given him a couple of small rawhide bones, which he has chewed to pieces in minutes but we don't give them to him anymore as they can be dangerous, he's always supervised when given chews. What can we give to him that is safe and will last him a longer amount of time? We've tried kongs and rough durable dog toys, he seems to get bored with kongs and he still manages to chew through tough toys! It's a good thing he's well behaved as it is costing us a fortune finding things for him to chew... Is this something he may grow out of?
Lincoln loves to chew. It's hard to find something he can't destroy in minutes. We used to give rope toys which he loves but had to stop as he was eating it. We now give him Petstages Dogwood Sticks which he loves. We buy the Large . One stick lasts about a month. We also buy Nylabones.
Cooper and to a lesser extent Tilly think Stuffed toys are supposed to be shredded. Fortunately they don't eat them, they just rip them open, pull out the stuffing and squeakers. There are usually several eviscerated soft toys around the house. Soft Toys by Tuffy hold up pretty well, but the dogs really don't chew on them much. Products from Kong and Nylabone are pretty destruction resistant. Big rope toys last quite a while and are handy for tug. We do give them rawhide rolls, but they treat them like food, and devour them. I like the rawhide knotted bones but the rolls cost a lot less and either are going to be eaten.
I think we'll try Petstages sticks! He does love to chew sticks when we he goes in the garden or happens to find one when we go out for a walk! Thank you
If he likes to chew wood he'll love the Petstages Dogwood Sticks. If you're in the Usa you can buy them on www.chewy.com for $7.20 .
The PetStages sticks are a good choice. Also, Yak chews are very popular. But really, try to get good at stuffing Kongs. The harder it is to get something in a Kong, the harder it is for the dog to get out. So you need some treat which you have to really force in there - and then maybe a few easier items to reinforce him at first and keep him trying...
Hi our pup is a chewer and the only thing we've found that lasts slightly longer are yak chews or antlers
