Re: Serious help needed please! If you get daycare in place, and then your pup has lots of company and activity through the day, you might feel very different about everything. It'll be a lot less pressured with your working hours.
Re: Serious help needed please! Ok thanks for all the info. Yeah feeling a lot better knowing I can get day care in place, also just spoke to dog walker who is full this week but she is meeting me on Sunday to make a plan for following weeks which is good.
Re: Serious help needed please! Hi , can I please suggest a good rehoming system, should it come to this of course , I don't want to influence in any way , just to offer suggestions . I used to work for the Blue Cross , all of their rehoming shelters now offer what is called Home Direct , which is a kinder way to rehome rather than the dog going into kennels, especially for a young puppy who would find it traumatic . How it works is this , you contact your closest Blue Cross rehoming centre , they come to see you to photograph and assess the dog , they then advertise the dog on their website . When someone applies to adopt , they are very carefully vetted and then come to your home with a BC representative to meet both you and the pup . You do have a say in the matter, which I think it important for many owners who cannot keep their dog but love them dearly . I wish you well and truly hope that you can work things out to enable you to keep your puppy , you sound a little more positive now which is good , good luck .
Re: Serious help needed please! Yeah thank you it does sound good, although I'm really hoping it won't have to come to that.
Re: Serious help needed please! I hope all goes well on Sunday and that you find a workable plan. Yes, puppies are hard work, but there have been lots of good suggestions here and the rewards will be great if you're able to work out a satisfactory solution for keeping her. Do let us know how it goes - you're sounding more positive already.
Re: Serious help needed please! I am feeling a lot better. Maybe being cooped up over the weekend added to my stress levels too, because pup isn't allowed out on walks i felt house bound which isn't me at all. After working all week I like to be out and about over the weekend and yesterday my stress levels just hit the roof. Another quick question... how do dog owners go about keeping their social life. I know it can be sociable having a dog, getting out with fellow dog owners on walks and going to puppy classes etc but what about things that aren't doggy friendly, like going out for a meal? Or meeting friends for drinks? Going away shopping for a day?
Re: Serious help needed please! Shopping for the day is out ;D Unless hubby stays home! Pup can and should be trained to spend some time alone while you have a meal out or drinks with friends. Frozen kongs given to the pup when you go out, keep it entertained and then the effort of getting the food out, makes the pup nice and sleepy.
Re: Serious help needed please! Find pubs and restaurants or cafés where dogs are welcome! It does them loads of good to go out and about with you, and to learn how to behave in company
Re: Serious help needed please! Yup, shop online unless you have a pup sitter. I changed what I do in my free time. I do much more outside - markets, street parties, events in parks, parties in the garden and so on, day trips to gardens and outside events where I can take the dog. Pubs that welcome dogs is the thing when you want to eat out (get puppy used to settling under a table with a kong early in life). Plus the emphasis of my friends changed - I see much more of the friends who will come to me, and walk Charlie, then stay for supper, than those who won't. That and dog classes, dog training holidays away, and doggies playdates...keeps me busy with pup included.
Re: Serious help needed please! Also this phase doesn't last forever.....you will get to the point where as long as your dog has had enough company, stimulation and exercise through the day y will be able to go out for dinner no problem. Our dog is 3 now and he's fine of we pop out for dinner or the local cinema. Long lazy days shopping still aren't on the cards without someone to look after him but we've never been big shoppers so that's ok by us

[/quote] You need to put pup in a baby sling or front rucksack, and get out of the house - show her streets, trains, cars, buses, busy highstreets...just don't put her down. Wait until she has had a poo and a pee, and get walking (carrying).
Re: Serious help needed please! Excellent advice there. Don't stay cooped up inside - get out and about with the baby sling! Great for puppy socialization - and you will be lapping up all the puppy love!!!
Re: Serious help needed please! Absolutely - get out and about and have that puppy meet as many new people, sights and sounds as possible You'll need to pop her down now and then to wee and poo, but just try to find a clear patch of grass or dirt or concrete. Socialization is really important It's really good that you're feeling more positive and in control
Re: Serious help needed please! It's going to be beautiful weather all this week, take your puppy into town and sit outside a cafe with a coffee, before you know it you will have an audience young and old only to willing to cuddle your puppy who will love it x
Re: Serious help needed please! I like the cafe idea, i would just be worried about other dogs being about since she hasn't had all her vaccinations yet. I took her into work this afternoon to visit and she got loads of attention although her little heart was racing, she is a bit of a wriggler though so not sure how long she would last in a sling! Completely off topic now, but could anyone tell me why I'm unable to reply to private messages?
Re: Serious help needed please! What's your pups name? I don't know why you can't PM, a Moderator will help with this. x

Re: Serious help needed please! Do you have a small rucksack or a large (old) handbag? Couple of towels and a poly bag in the bottom = perfect puppy transportation.
