    Love it!!

When we rescued Charlie the fosterer gave me a can of pet corrector which I promptly threw in the bin, shame I didn't know how useful it would be for my lovely new camera ;) x

The water pistol was a complete and utter failure....unfortunately.

My best tactic these days is if I see a dog go stiff, and my dog look uncomfortable, I walk between the two dogs. I stay close by my dog when other dogs approach, I have a good "behind" cue so Charlie will move behind my legs, and I try to head off an aggressive looking dog before it gets to Charlie. I find it all a bit tiresome, to be honest.

Although have had a good day today, met lots of dogs and every last one of them was well socialised and delightful.

Riley has been known to try and mount dogs. Usually when he's massively over excited. Now I know the signs the way he kind of sides round them and the nose goes over their back before he sneaks backwards and tries to mount. When I spot it I either recall him or get there as quickly as possible to prevent him.

bbrown - I do not think Riley mounting dogs is the kind of thing we are talking about here. Even Charlie doesn't much mind Riley's soft, half hearted, goofy (sorry, sorry but it's true....), paws over mounting which he gives up pretty easily. Although you are still right to stop him, I think. Riley is a billion miles away from aggressive dogs that go in heavy, with a growl, are persistent, and really completely over the top.

Sorry to hear you've had this happen . The owner sounds like a few I know.......totally irresponsible! I hope you and Chepi have a better day tomorrow Jane.
I have been told not to drag a dog off if they have locked on as it can do the female damage, so best to quickly check before hauling him off. I am lucky that this is one thing Harley won't tolerate, she moves her body out of the way and will tell them off if they persist.

Get a pet correct and a hill walking stick the ones with the spike on the end. If it happens again use them if you are feeling threatened by the dog yourself call the police again. find out who she is a were she lives and call the dog warden
He does it all the time. Shes an idiot. I have a entire male and he's not allowed to do this, and hitting is ok according to theRSPCA as long as its not around the head.. I know this because I reported the local drug seller and general thug for beating his poor now deceased dog to them when he was beating it in the street with a chain lead. They and the police did nothing even thoughit was terrible and we had 3 crediable witnesses besides me.
A RSPCA inspector told me it was ok as long as it s not the head....i just thought was entirely wrong to hit and animal ever, but not according to this inspector.
this dog is only doing what natural but it is not acceptable to it to try and rape and hurt your dog the owner needs to made aware of her responcibilities and if she wont listen to you maybe a few visits from the police and dog warden will.
So sorry this has happened to you hope she and you are ok and that you don't meet the idiots again.
