Lady goes to kennels usually for 3 nights about once a fortnight because we are away regularly on short business trips where we can't take her with us. I spent a bit of time quite a while back finding a kennels where she appeared to be content and where they made a bit of a fuss of her. The kennels we've ended up with are really good and as she's so regularly with them she is always in the same kennel and the run has a nice shady tree in it to chill out under when the weather is good. I always worry about her going in to kennels so frequently but why, I ask myself? This morning's routine ..... Lady chilling in the garden Open back of car and put in vet bed and toy Pick up treats, lead and enough dental sticks for the stay Go in garden to get Lady - nowhere to be seen? Back in house to find Lady by the front door with tail wagging vigorously. Open front door and SBD leaps into car. Arrive at kennels and SBD leaps out of car and runs into the office where she gets her head stuck into someone else's bag of kibbles! Sign her in and SBD trots off to kennel tail wagging and WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT ME. Mortified return to car - tear in eye. ;D If you have to kennel your dog regularly it's well worth finding one that they like.
Re: She prefers the kennels to me!!!! Good that she is happy but I know how you feel :'( Years ago when I worked for a vet, one of the clients use to put her dogs in kennels and when she got them home, they would go take themselves off to the kennels again!

Re: She prefers the kennels to me!!!! How lucky you are that Lady is so well looked after and you can feel happy for her to go in without any problems. Not all kennels are as good as that and treat the dogs so well. I bet Lady just likes her little holidays too but is always glad to be home xx

Re: She prefers the kennels to me!!!! Off to Castle Combe tomorrow. We are running a larger than usual track day on Monday, plus sports car hire, plus a corporate event. It's going to be full on all day and I've got twice as many in the team as usual so that to worry about as well. Wish us luck, please!
