In all honesty, I don't see how it would help. It won't teach your dog to have a soft mouth. I would persist with training around biting and train every day.

Definitely not. As Naya says, the lesson your pup needs to learn is bite inhibition. Physically preventing him from biting won't teach him this.

I'd tend to say no to a muzzle too.

Have you tried clicker training a nose touch, with closed mouth, on your hand? I just wonder if it might be a way forward.

In general I'd say no they need to learn bite inhibition. If there's a specific scenario where you have to take your pup and absolutely can't have him nibbling or biting then I guess you need a muzzle but absolutely not as a permanent feature.

I wouldn't use a muzzle either, not for a pup, except in an extreme situation as @bbrown states above. Just persevere with the training - both of the pup, and of your family who probably don't quite understand life with a Lab puppy like you do. ;)

I'll try the halti first. Will look into clicker training with nose touch. I already practiced bite inhabitition with her when she was little. It's when I go on walks and she lunges excitedly and nips people that I have a problem.....
