Re: Should I go to the vet? Let us know when you have any news of Max. Everything crossed he had a peaceful night and is ready to come home today x
Re: Should I go to the vet? How is max ? I hope he's on the mend and back home today. Fingers crossed.
Re: Should I go to the vet? The vet has just rung and Max has shown signs of improvement overnight which is fab news! He has been on a drip all night and has also had a little drink this morning which he totally refused to do yesterday. They are going to keep him in for monitoring for the rest of the day but as long as he continues to improve he should be able to come home later this afternoon. Thank you for all your kind words and good wishes, it's been very comforting reading your messages.
Re: Should I go to the vet? Thank goodness he's feeling better... Any indication from the vet what the problem was?
Re: Should I go to the vet? Oh what a worrying time you are having. Glad to hear Max is improving today. He is in the best place for now, but I hope he can get back home soon.
Re: Should I go to the vet? I think Amber is doing some sympathy vomiting here. Must be so horrible for you to be apart from him. Don't be in a rush to have him home though, always better to be safe than sorry. An extra 12-24 hours of monitoring might be beneficial. Normally I like my patients to be eating, keeping things down and passing nearly normal faeces before I give the all clear and end fluid therapy / send home. Although it does depend on dogs personality because some do recuperate quicker at home. It would be really good to know what caused the problem, would give you peace of mind I think. Amber sends wags and kisses (although her vommy kisses aren't exactly desirable at the moment!!)
Re: Should I go to the vet? Glad to hear the news. Hope Max continues to improve and that you find out the cause of the problem (other than simply scavenging pork chop!).
Re: Should I go to the vet? I've been tied up yesterday and today so just catching up,what a scare for you all, hope he is still improving, have you heard anymore from the vet ? X
Re: Should I go to the vet? We've just brought Max home. He's so much better than yesterday, seemed very pleased to see us, waggy tail etc . The vet still doesn't know exactly why he was so ill. The blood test didn't show poison, the xrays showed that all the bits of bone had passed (there was a lot of bone in his vomit), so all they can say is that it was a bad case of gastroenteritis maybe because the meat had been in the park for a long time. We've got to go back tomorrow for a check up. Such a relief to have him home again!
