Not sure where to ask this Hi friends I have lightly started to show Ziva her first show on her 6 month birthday where she placed 3rd. Her second show couple weeks ago entered her in 3 classes Puppy Bitch she got 3rd, Any variety Puppy she got she got 4th and Labrador Open Retriever class to which was 9 entries she got 2nd to which I was absolutely stunned. My friend gave me a loan of a lead as I don't plan on showing her much but wondered id any of you no what site's to look for show lead and does any one no what length( size) borrowed lead was 64 inch but it was too big as Ziva only 19 inch tall at nearly 8 months. Does anyone have an old lead they no longer use that I could purchase as I don't plan on showing her much maybe just few local show few times a year. Her next will be January but will all depend on her season Many Thanks Marie Unfortunately I don't no how to post pictures so if I could send some over to some one they could do for me .
I never intended to show her but I did want to just have a go and because she did so well at her first and this local show was coming up I thought yeah why not
I know nothing about showing - sorry - but I just wanted to say the best of luck with it, and very well done! And I'd love to hear about more of your show adventures! Take some photos to show us next time!
I don't know anything about it either I'm afraid but wanted to wish you luck and say I too would love to hear more about your adventures in showing. I know you can go to ringcraft classes
Thank you both. Julie T do I have you'r email address from when you send over the video?? would you be able to upload couple photo's ??? bbrown I have been a couple time to our local ringcraft but plan on going back in couple weeks.
Great that you are getting into showing, and that you're enjoying it Sounds like Ziva is doing really well.
She actually love's it just need to work on her standing lol lol at moment she just small slot machine treat after treat, after treat lol lol I find it very enjoyable and pleased to have the experience with her. Other training front not done so much as she rather unwell for past 3 weeks hurt her hip running around to much off lead with her wee friend Oscar so was housebound for a week, but clicker training came in very very handy from Julie T Got back ok on Sat before show then day after show she has taken a serious bug of very very soft, runny poo and still not right yet but was back at vets on Thursday as she came down with what I suspected Conjunctivitis which was right enough but on Thursday night her tummy was upset again so starved her for 48 hrs this time round and have reintroduced her to Hill's ID she also had Pro- Kolin to help her tummy and help firm her up so back to basics with feeding small 4 times daily yesterday and today and will continue over this incoming week to get her back to normal feeding. She is nice and firm today so that's a good start. Sorry didn't need to put all that xx
Ah well done with your results so far.I don't know anything about showing....in fact it's not something that has appeared on the Forum to my knowledge so it's great you've come to tell us about it. My Parents had a cocker spaniel that was quite successful in the show ring ,but the breeder did all the showing.....he was firstly our 'pet' and secondly a show dog, much to the consternation of the breeder ....she's have preferred that he didn't go running in the burry bushes and getting bedraggled from swimming! I can remember Mum saying that there was a lot of waiting around at some of the shows, so she was pleased that Her dog was quite placid and chilled during the waiting time. Sorry Ziva has been poorly too, sounds like your bad run is over though and she's on the mend x
Thanks Dexter What lovely story about your Mum's spaniel. Oberon She deffo getting better but just taking her feeding slowly small but often for good few days.
