They are supposed to be palatable. At least that's what the leaflet says. I've never had any trouble getting the SBD to eat them before, either. But today she showed a dexterity of tongue that defies belief.

Mixed with kibble the 6 half tabs were easily separated out and dumped next to her bowl.

Wrapped in cheese the 6 half tabs were unwrapped in her mouth and dumped next to the bowl.

Laced with creamy and thick Greek yogurt the 6 half tabs were licked clean and dumped next to the bowl.

Crushed and mixed with said Greek yohurt - the bowl was ignored although she gave it a lot of hard stares.

Hang on while I just re-check - NEWS FLASH!

I am having a degree of success by coating kibble with the yogurt and crushed tabs. She seems to be licking clean each kibble individually but in the process getting the tabs. There are about 100 kibbles in her bowl so this could be a lengthy job.

I'll report back in about an hour I should think.

HaHaHa! We had a family dog - a Rough Collie - that could separate out peas, and leave them at the side of his bowl, no matter how well they were mixed into his food (which back in those days was Pal and Winalot...).

Ha ha, I have the same problem, careful unwrapping of Drontal and left in the bowl, all kibble carefully eaten around yukky tablets, they are clever our dogs you know David ;)

Hattie would never take these easily so they have to be hidden in food, Charlie used to eat Drontal from my hand and now he won't. I break them up and put them inside sardines or in a teaspoon of cream cheese and put it in their bowls and have success that way.

    Good luck!!! xx :D

    Clever SBD.

We coat tablets in butter and feed them by hand. That seems to work well.

I open my dogs' mouths and push the pill down to the back of their throats if they won't take them any other way! One way to try is to have them well wrapped in cheese or meat, then throw cheese/meat bits WITHOUT pill in for a couple of times then suddenly toss in the ones WITH the pill in, usually they have been lulled into a false sense of security :)

Ha, ha Juno thinka all tablets are treats whether it's Milbemax, Claviseptin, Metacam or her joint supplement they all get the same treatment. Juno comes to sit in front of me, gets her treat (the pills) and off she goes to her bed hoping that there's more to come

I think Drontal has become less palatable - Lilly used to take it no problems.....

Can't use drontal as it makes one of my dogs sick but because doug has so much medication I have developed no end of stubid games to get tablets and other stuff swallowed. I found a syringe filled with yogurt very useful and if all else fails baby food really works.

I am a huge fan of Rolo sweets for this. Cut one in half, stuff offending pill into the caramel bit then squish back together and throw to drooling labrador. I can even get Program tablets down mine like this and Program tablets are massive.

Hope the SBD eventually took her Drontal....

My two used to take the tablets from my hand, but have started to get fussy. A bit of Serrano ham does it for me, but I imagine SBD would see through that one, too...

There is no kidding Lady is there...everything I've ever needed to administer will go down in some Philadelphia cheese .....when he was a youngster he did actually crunch down most things but he wouldn't now...so how long did dinner actually take yesterday? X

It was extra to dinner - a handful of high value (to the dog) ie high protein kibble. It took her about an hour to pick each individual kibble out and eat it.

I'll leave it a month and give her another dose embedded in squiggy tasty stuff as suggested. I'm sure the taste of the tabs must have changed because she's always wolfed them down mixed in with her normal meal before. Little monkey!

Try Milbemax palatable wormer instead, I much prefer it over Drontol and it is very tasty, looks like pale chocolate. I have never had any problem with that one.

Juno says Milbemax are very tasty, and please is it time for her to have another one - she thinks they're treats :D
