Took her out this afternoon and got as far as the driveway. She sits, puts her paw over the lead (she's left handed by the way) and looks at me pathetically. Much encouragement from me gets her to her feet and I try to set off again this time holding the lead in the air to avoid the paw move. She's up on her hind legs and puts BOTH paws over lead and pulls it down and sits! Hmmmm! Much more encouragement and she's on her feet again but this time when I try forward motion she just flops and lies down on her side. Try taking her lead off to see what happens and she's up in a flash and has run back into the back garden all carry on and waggy tail. She's now snoring on the sofa next to me. I ask you!

Wow! Are you concerned at all, or is there a reasonable explanation?

She may be in pain! Not lazy, unless she had an exhausting day yesterday!

Don't worry folks - she's not in pain or anything. Just telling me she didn't want to go for a walk. She's done it before but not so pointedly. Just thought it was an amusing episode to share. :D

Haha! Casoer turns into a black upside slug when he doesn't want to go out..no budging him .I know there is nothing wrong with him, he is just happier sometimes snoring on the sofa...but when HE wants to go out and I am not ready he just all drama...huffing, puffing..and sighing..with his "sad black rescue labrador" expression. Seriously I had a text from our dog walker today..she was just taking Benson out, but she wanted to let me know how unhappy Casper was...all sad emoticons etc....I felt so guilty, until I checked out home CCTV and yes..he was snoring his head off! sigh...
So I guess the Lady is fine, just catching up on her beauty sleep! :)

Heheh. I can't imagine my two turning down a walk. Maybe in a couple of years when they're as sensible as Lady. For now ... er.... no. :)

I have never known a dog not want to go for a walk, home must be a wonderfully, happy place for her :)

Oh Lady! Duvet day indeed! A little basking in the last of the sunshine perhaps? A drink or two? Maybe a snack? She's a one xxxx

    Hilarious...

Obi would never refuse a walk. The SBD must have a very full life to refuse a walk opportunity.

Lady is hilarious. Tarka would never refuse a walk but Lochan really hates rain and has been known to hide in the hay shed at the farm on particularly wet days when we are setting out.

That's hilarious! Lady does object to going out in the rain but only as far as trying to back up when I open the door. Walk this morning all fine and she did much hooning with her friends Rory (Lab), Banksy (Springer) and Moss (Lakeland).

Haha.. Baxter does this but usually when we are half way through a walk. I end up looking like an idiot will he just lies down and refuse to move. It was fine when he was a pup, after a while i'd just lift him but now that's not an option. If it's raining he'll not even go out for a pee let alone a walk!

Hah! Simba is often Highly Dubious about going outside - I took this picture standing at the back door with it opens, asking him if he wants to go outside:
[IMG]Outside? Nope. by psalmone1, on Flickr

But it's different if I get his leash and harness out. He's happy to head out for a walk then, even if it's (shudder) -25C out.
