What a beautiful girl, lovely face. I watch Annie's weight, she is small and she is 25 k, but she will eat anything and everything. So I have to be careful with her.

I think you've captured the "confused and starving" look quite well in the first photo. She's a lovely looking dog (I agree with the others, a beautiful face), a far sight from the two Labrador barrels I met on my walks this week!

It's just over 24 hours into the diet and it's an absolute NIGHTMARE! It's only gentle stuff. I've just cut her meals by about 10% and pretty much cut out, but not not quite, all her treats. She's been pestering and pestering all evening including throwing herself on the floor and letting out a groan!

I'll do 5% tomorrow on meals and see how we get on. o_O

I'm just doing it by eye really. She has 1 1/2 scoops in the morning and 2 scoops in the evening. So just cut back a little bit.

I find going cold turkey at 2/3 of rations for a week works well.

Poppy says I am hideously cruel...

Honestly, Poppy doesn't seem to notice if there's less in the bowl. She'd eat whatever you put in there, and still say she's hungry... But if she's looking chunky, I do find meaty bones are better than kibble, as the chewing and chomping seems more satisfying and seems to keep her full for longer.

I feed Annie 3 times a day, so it does seem that bad. Small meals and at night she can have a medium size kong. If she has treats other than her kong, it is chicken and cut up very small and she has to work for it. I sometimes I put one of her meals (kibble) in one of those push around ball to make it last longer. I feed Fred in another room so she doesn't pinch any of his, because he is a big softie and he would let her.

How big are the scoops? Mine (both 30kg and boys) have half a coffee mug in the morning and one coffee mug in the evening. Rourke the younger one (5) has had a smidgeon more as he is working and will need to go on a diet! Are they 'good doers' or is it the food!
