No. It isn't at all - not at all. And if that's your experience, you really haven't experienced a super bold puppy. Unless you want to punish the puppy for this behaviour, then it's easy to stop. But if you want to use positive training, you have signed up to hours and hours and hours of work to stop this behaviour once it starts.
My friend had a very bad back so she took her pup out in a little shopping trolley the pup loved it and so did everyone else
Can't agree more here! It is definitely not easy to stop. Bailey and I have spent hours and hours of positive training to stop him jumping up on people. We are getting there but I still do not fully trust him. He is certainly better with me and with my OH but when anyone comes to the house it can be quite stressful for all of us!
Definitely! I feel as though you'd have to proof every single person ever with Stanley. He's OK now with me & OH, and a few others. But apart from that he flings himself at people like a bat out of hell to try and say hello to them. Especially when he thinks every creature on this earth is here to play with him. You can tell the difference in people who have dogs as well. Two of my friends came over the other night, the one without a dog was fussing him when he jumped up and kissing him etc the other turned her back and waited for calm. Gunna have a long journey with this one I think!
Tatze is still loony tunes when anyone comes, she simply adores visitors! She settles after five minutes or so and everyone has got used to her. The worst is my friend who has little dogs, she breeds very badly behaved miniature schnauzers - she thinks it's fine for Tatze to jump all over her, one of these days she'll get nutted! I discourage it, but if I turn my back she's encouraging her again ...
I agree with @JulieT as I have a super friendly, bold, nosy boy who loves people. The only person he doesn't jump on is my mum, who is rather frail, and although we proof and train, proof and train, it is gradually sinking in but this is going to be a forever job I think!
Our last Lab Cooper, was always good with older people! Even as a 3 month old he somehow knew to be gentle around my elderly mother in law. He was like that all his life. We don't have any frail people around Bailey which is just as well!
