Hi guys Im debating wether to call the emergency vet or not I dont know if it warrants it yet and to just wait until tonorrow. Rolos eye is very closed over and the lower lid looks irriatted. The level he has it closed over comes and goes like somethong is in it. He has previously had eyedrops for the same thing so i have put them in and see how he goes. I cant tell if hes in pain but he seems fine in himself eyes just worry me.
Could you ring the emergency vet and see if they say you need to see him? Might put your mind at ease
When Snowie's eye was sore we called the vet and he said to irrigate it with saline (1 tsp salt in a cup of boiled water, dissolve, let cool before pouring in eye). He said if there was no improvement immediately after irrigation then it's an emergency vet visit. In that case there was no improvement in Snowie's eye and indeed he had a corneal abrasion. If I were you I'd be calling the vet asap. I hope it's nothing. But with eyes, you have 24 hours or less to treat in the case of an emergency.
I would call the vet asap. Hopefully it's just irritated but if there is any damage it needs to be looked at asap
Me too. There are lots of things I'll wait and see about but when it involves actually seeing I'm at the VEt.
Were at the vets now! Hopefully its nothing too serious. I didnt even call i just came up as it got worse ill keep you all posted thanks for the help
Hey guys there was something in it! Only small it hadnt csused any damage yet but if left it would of! So thanks to you all! Today he is okay but wont let me put the drops in for love nor money. Ive tried everything im going to try again later but gee ot was like a workout.
Poor Rolo how miserable You could get him to sit, ask someone to hold a piece of cheese above his head, when he looks up drops in, give him the cheese!! Obviously a piece of cheese per eye Hope he gets better soon. xx
Thanks Helen. How is Charlie doing now, Unfortunatley Rolo became very wise to the food above head holding. He doesnt stay still and tries to bite the drops out of my hand Ive tried everything and he seems a little distressed so im going to see if the vet can help me....
Really glad it was nothing serious. Just wanted to say, I have full sympathy with the eye drops administration thing. My pup has had conunctivitis three times and it has been a nightmare getting drops in her eyes. I posted about it under 'conjunctivitis' and had some really helpful replies so it might be worth you taking a look and seeing if any work for you. Good luck.
So pleased his eye had been seen to. Was it something that pierced his cornea? Did you ask about eye gel that you can apply with a finger? Those drops are so darn difficult that we never got one drop into Snowie's eye!
I have to give Luna drops and she hates it. Very quickly became head-shy and quite panicky. So, I've been working on training her to look up with the bottle in my hand, without actually applying any drops. I've been doing this for a couple of weeks and she's slowly, slowly getting better. But it's hard for her. Other than that, I use a tube of Primula to get the drops in. It's not easy, as she moves her head a lot, but I do eventually get the drops in with a happy enough puppy.
