I hate it when they have upset tummies Tony so I know what your going through. I've had far too much experience of it for my liking. My old lab had colitis for 15 years and Scott and Scout are also prone.

If it's pure liquid it's usually an irritation of the small intestine a bug or something he's eaten. Large intestine irritation is usually thick and mucus.

like Julie I always have pro kolin in stock although now I use Diar Stop which his montmirrilianite instead of kaolin. It's supposed to be more effective.

Your doing all the right things and my usual vets advice is if no improvement within three days then they need a bit of help getting rid of it so a trip to the vet unfortunately. Fingers crossed Bud is on the mend and back to normal.

Thank you. Very slight improvement but will be able to tell more as we go through the day.

Jen, thank you.I am just a big emotional softie when it comes to Bud. I should feel confident and happy that he is displaying no other symptoms - and i am - but the concern still remains. Personally, i think having endured losses in the past has made me very protective of those closest to me now. And Bud is one of those few who i am close to.

I appreciate the definition you provided also. Has been most definitely the former so a bug or something he managed to sneak into his mouth when i was not looking is more bearable than the alternatives. Hasn't been easy not giving him breakfast but he is cuddled up on the sofa now and appears to have stopped craving his lost meal.

I will provide further updates as and when there is more to tell.

    Thanks everyone.x

Try and get some rest yourself, Tony, particularly if you have not slept. The more tired you are, the more you will worry. Sleep is a good restorative, for both of you.

Bless him, poor wee Bud :) I am sure that he will soon sort himself out, you are doing all the right things, but even so they are such a worry aren't they? :) :)

    Thank you Debs.

Kate....yes, very much a worry. But that shows our devotion and the bond we share. Just prepared Bud's mini meals for the day in accordance with the vets advice. He has now had his midday meal, which i added water to in order to prevent it being too dry. He cleared the bowl so still no problem with appetite. :)

I will admit that i am pretty exhausted. I have rested a little whilst Bud was curled up, but i haven't actually slept. This will have to wait till my wife returns from work later this afternoon. Thank you for your thoughts.x

I hope Bud is now much better and that you'll both be able to have a good night's sleep.

Hard to say to be fair. He has eaten his rice meals without any problems, and overall his manner is no different to normal. Possibly a little more tired than usual. He did pass a slightly more solid stool this afternoon but he appears to be refusing any further activity of this nature. Will be talking to the vets tomorrow so will see what further advice is given. Thank you for your kind words.

Update: Spoke to the out of hours vets again early this morning. Bud hasn't passed a motion since early yesterday afternoon, and even though he begins his circling manoeuvre he refuses to go any further. He won't drink his water so we are adding water to his rice and chicken that the vets have advised to keep him on until he has recovered. This way he is intaking a good supply of water daily. The vets aren't alarmed at this point, and tell us Bud is actually doing well. Nonetheless, our actual practice will be called tomorrow if there is no significant change, and maybe a personal visit just to make sure Bud doesn't need a little assistance. In himself Bud is....well Bud. Playing, misbehaving, sleeping, and generally showing no signs of poor health. I'll update this space again tomorrow.x

Glad Bud is still himself, just not in the bottom department. Hopefully he will go soon and he will get better quickly. Big licks from Harley and tummy rubs from me x

I wouldn't be too concerned about him not going for at least 24 hours as long as there is no straining to go. Scout has been known to go 36 hours without going after he's had diarrhoea. If you think about it Bud has got rid of a lot in a short space of time and his intake has been reduced so not that surprising that he's not wanting to go.

Hope everything is moving as normal by tomorrow. :)

It's good to know that Bud is just being Bud. It's always a worry when things aren't quite right - and time seems to drag too. Hopefully he'll be back to normal soon. :)

Pongo has asked me to say that he hopes Bud is better soon. He often has runniness in that department and he can't understand why I get so interested in it.

And in the meantime he says that he thinks you are a lovely daddy but you need to get some sleep too!

I think Bud would have to be feeling really poorly to not be 'Bud.' Tomorrow is a new day. We'll see what Bud brings to the day. :)

    Oh Dear Bud ???

I hope your tum/bum is better soon...it's no fun to be out of sorts. My mommy usually adds some canned pumpkin to my meals if my tum is worked up. It makes things a bit orange  but otherwise seems to really help. I like it, it tastes good and adds fiber (whatever that is ??? ). Maybe your dad will have some of that to help you too...

Feel better soon Bud... - licks from Bella
