I'd abandon retrieving as something that will never float his boat. You've made all the progress you have without it - he has off lead time now - and you'll still make progress in the future. I would look at other games though - there are loads and loads.... But only if you think they'd be fun for you to try.
Re: Space Hopper Ball What about having a go at hunting with charlie like Barbara has suggested to Julie in Charlie's July/August training thread ? The pointer in him would love that and the way Barbara has explained it to Julie it would keep him close. Also if he enjoyed it you could try it in the garden. It could be away of him learning some control in the garden. PS . its on page 15 if your interested. It would also be a good excuse not to mow the lawn.
