Re: Spero
Yay! 25th April - that's soon!
Quicker than I thought it would be as French airlines are on strike around then!! So much to do now......... Get new collar and lead Get new dog tags Get new long line Get new harness Book in to see vets Get new dog bed Get a few new toys for Harley and Spero Get more dog food in Get a new Kong Arrange date with Kate for borrowing her field Book time off work Book few days off for hubby to be home Anything I've forgotten??
Re: Spero Do you have a gate or such so that you can separate them if needed (over playing/anxiety/etc) When I boarded a similar age dog to Tatze I made it so that the room could be divided. I was glad as they didn't leave each other alone at first, so I taught the command 'enough' by teaching them to go either side of the gate and settle Here is our set up when fifi was here (yes, I know she looks exactly like Gypsy, but this is Fifi - now in advanced training)
Re: Spero So exciting, not long too wait despite French Air Traffic Control. Spero is a very lucky dog.
Re: Spero He is one lucky boy, for sure. A plan to introduce, and manage (as Mags suggests) the two dogs would seem sensible. And be prepared for teething troubles...
Re: Spero I'm so thrilled!!! Wow, that's only ten days away!!! ;D Can't wait to see photos and videos... Oh, I hope he and Harley get along! (Though I'm sure they will). 8)
Re: Spero I am borrowing my friends stair Gate to put on the frontroom door. I really hope Harley and Spero get on Hubby is taking 2 days off then I've got the following 5 days off to help him settle in. Fingers crossed x
Re: Spero It may be a bit of a roller coaster ride at first, so buckle your seat belts.. But there are lots of people on here who have adopted or fostered and who can give advice. He looks and sounds like a lovely boy, who just needs a chance. And you are giving him that.
Re: Spero This is so lovely! Im sure he will settle fine, just need to give him time., and you may have teething problems as mentioned by others. Im sure itwill be great. Reminds me of when I was waiting for Ezra to come over from Romania! X
Re: Spero Really looking to meeting Spero! We use a 8m horse lunge line made of soft webbing, much kinder on your hands, think you may have seen it with Casper at the weekend. Bought on ebay for around £8. We also used a crate for Casper from day one which has really helped. They both have seperate areas during the day, Benson the kitchen and utility, Casper has the front room (where his crate is)
Re: Spero Aw, how exciting! I love that this forum has been instrumental in giving this lovely man a new start. Are you introducing them on neutral territory, or bringing him straight home to meet Harley? I think she's pretty easy-going, isn't she?
