Durabones are good...like nylabones but they have jerky inside them which they can smell so they get a lot of attention in my house. And Kongs. Any soft toys we get are systematically destroyed very very quickly....

Ordered nylerbone and a stag antler. She has a bone shaped Kong, today I filled it for her and she has twice hidden it under her bedding.

Bless little Amy :) Sam loves rolling his stag bar around in his mouth, making a noise clattering on his teeth :)

I just found a source of deer antlers in Australia and have ordered one. Can't wait to try it (on the dog that is).

Lilly decided on tuesday that her stag bar was exciting again, and decided to crunch crunch crunch until she had eaten......probably the equivalent of half a smallish stag bar. When I got home from work yesterday afternoon she had pooped on the carpet. Not like her at all, so putting it down to the stag bar. ::)
I know she has been a "bit loose" when she has been over greedy with a butchers bone before, but this one I had not been expecting.
I'm sure that the puppies in particular aren't going to be quite so aggressive in their devouring of said item, but thought I would share this!! Most dogs I know with them make them last for weeks ad weeks if not months. Dustbin dog. :(
Interestingly we have a second one hanging around that she has been completely ignoring.

Stag Antlers have been greatly received by my two. I do believe they will last for months as after a week barely an indent. Quite expensive but..... Helen x

Good grief Jac , fancy demolishing a stag bar so quickly  :)
Sam has had one for a couple of weeks and to be honest, he shows little interest, just every so often fishes it out of the toy box ( yes he does have a toy box ::) and chucks it about, has a little knaw and then put it back in preferrence to something else :)

Ours arrived yesterday. I think it'll last a while, but it's got the woof of approval. :)

LOL, don't worry, that's already been taken care of. Obi gets a spot-on flea treatment once a month (as he goes to day care) and, if you read the fine print you will see that it says on the packet that 'this product will bleach leather'. Yes, it does. ::) So the sofa was already a candidate for re-upholstery before the incident of the gutted armchair. I think we will be getting both items re-covered in steel security mesh or similar.

Thanks, Lynne :) He does look like a she but he is a he. Everyone thinks he is a girl (but he doesn't mind a bit :) ) I think it's his over-dramatic use of black eyeliner.

Kate - Obi has a toy box too. Though usually the contents are nowhere near the box.

Having posted on here in praise of antlers I have now become aware of several dogs with severe fractures of the canine and carnassial teeth caused by chewing on antlers. I've thrown all my own out now.

Ok, that's good enough for me. Ours is going in the bin too. Having had one Labrador with a root canal from a broken carnassial I don't want a second!!!!!

But... surely they're not any worse than bones??? Goodness, you just cant win, can you? Pay 10 pounds for a piece of antler (grinding your teeth because you threw one away that you found in the forest a few months ago) - and now it turns out they're NOT good for dog teeth after all?????? :-\
