Stanleys been sick 4 times starting about 9pm last night. It's just bile/water now. He seems ok in himself, is drinking and eyeing me up for his breakfast. I'm concerned though because he was at Doggy day care yesterday and she said when he was out on a walk he ate something. She said she saw him pick it up but doesn't know what it was. She tried to get it off him but he swallowed whatever it was before she could get it. Just waiting for the vets to open to give them a call
Poor boy. Hope he's ok and that the vet can get to the bottom of it. It's good that he's bright and interested in breakfast.
Thanks everyone! You know, I'm not sure he's had one. I didn't pay attention to him in the garden this morning as I was cleaning up sick. I'll have to keep an eye on that!
That was the worst vet experience ever! The good news is she thinks he's just got an upset tummy. So she said an injection to settle his tummy and starve him until tea time. If he's sick anymore we had to go back. The bad part was, Stanley decided he didn't like injections anymore. I've never seen him like that. He was so frightened. Then when she put the injection in he screamed and ran away. In the end she had to get a vet nurse to hold him down and he was crying so badly while she put it in. Obviously, I was really useful. Just standing there sniffling away asking if this was really necessary. He's probably not going to like the vets now but even after all that he still gave her a tail wag and a kiss goodbye. She was like "ahhh, this dog has absolutely no malice in him". No he doesn't he's a perfect angel.
Oh, I do feel your (and his)pain. But glad it doesn't sound too serious. When Monty had a bad bout of gastritis a few months ago, he had to have two injections. Bearing in mind he has regular acupuncture and cartrophen injections, he's not a fan. It wasn't the needle but the actual liquid that pained him and he howled and whimpered terribly. For ages. Fortunately OH was there to hold him. Maybe you could pop in a few times just to say hello, and give him loads of treats while youre there. That way the association with the injection should lessen. I make sure monty has at least 2-3 hydro sessions at the vets, which he loves, for every non-fun visit.
Oh the poor sausage. Get an empty syringe (no needle) and condition him to become comfortable with having pretend injections with it. Start small, with the syringe in sight but not near him.
When mine have injections, I rub them in another area quite hard, so they are concentrating on that and not on the injection and as soon as it is over, pop something good into their mouths.
Poor Stanley, I hope his tummy is feeling better and he quickly forgets the needle trauma. Personally I'm with him - I hate needles.
