Absolutely Rachael I couldn't agree more. It's so much easier when you pick your puppy up at 8 weeks and you have a clean slate to work from but with a rescue that's mostly not going to happen as there is usually lots of baggage  It's lovely to hear about the dogs at your dog club and the achievements they have with their new owners after such a terrible start in life :'( Thanks xxx

Helen, just think how much you have learned because of Charlie. As lovely as your Hattie is, the 'easy' dogs don't teach us an awful lot. Murffi has definitely taught me more than any other dog I ever had and reminds me every day that there is still a lot more to learn. :)

Heidrun, your so right we have learned such a lot because of Charlie, training techniques we have never even heard of before we now put into practice. Yes and still heaps to learn but gradually getting there. If your still learning that really gives us hope ;) I appreciate your words very much. Thank you xx :)

Sorry, all, I'm away at the moment but just got a moment to catch up.

Thanks for all your comments and encouragements, I really appreciate it! Especially Helen, as I know that you really do understand. It is hard to go from a dog who would never think of running off (ie my previous dog) to one that really isn't that bothered whether they are with you or not. I have been really pleased with Simba in how he was coming along and really responding, but my fault in not keeping up the training. I just have to remember that I can't take his progress for granted!

Presently he is at home with OH while I'm gone, and not getting as many walks, but it's going okay from what I hear so far. I'm heading home tomorrow night, and then will try to get back to some more formal training. We'll see how it goes. :)

Ah Lisa, hope there haven't been any food infringements whilst you have been away!

Seriously, you are doing so well, and need to stay positive. Simba is a lucky boy to have you :)
