    Great news!!!!!

Yes, 'put it on cue' just means giving it a name (like 'down', 'lie down' or 'drop'). It just means 'make the behaviour something you can ask for and get with a word or some other signal'. Exactly the same as teaching a sit. If your dog sits when you say sit then you have 'put it on cue' :) Sorry about the jargon :)

So, to add the cue, just say 'down' immediately before she is about to sink to the ground, and she will soon learn what you mean.

It also sounds like the mere act of you sitting down to eat has actually become a cue for her to lie down - she has made that association for herself :)

Ah I see, that makes sense - onwards and upwards with the 'down' now!

I am just starting to look at using a whistle indoors to associate it with 'come!' to me, with a view to using it on the retrieve, to build on Lily's new-found spirit of (near) co-operation ;D but I guess I should start a new thread...

Thanks for your help with this one everyone :)

milly is now 17months old and i can start to see a difference in her she is much better at meeting other dogs and comes away when called lots of treats help and she is better at night as we now have her in our room some months ago i was on here saying she was howling all night downstairs and we just had to accept that she was never going to settle on her own she was very anxious at being alone it does seem as you are going through the stages it will never end we thought we could not have a dog that was getting up every 2hours but at last she is better hang in there all of you
