Don't apologise for asking questions, it is the way to learn. :D

The way I use stop whistle in conjunction with thrown dummies, is by sitting the dog up and throwing dummies around him and blowing the stop whistle each and every throw. Then I go and collect all the dummies myself. It reinforces that stop whistle means sit even when interesting things are happening around the dog. It is also the first building block to teach the dog to sit when things fall from the sky and land on the ground or something whizzes past a great speed. ;)

Thank you very much Heidrun. The dummy throwing makes sense, but I guess we are a long way off dummies falling from the sky ;D Charlie will sit/wait forever, but the minute the ball has left my hand he is off at top speed, not sure how to tackle that one. But as you have said to me before, I MUST NOT do steadiness work until he is addicted to retrieving as I don't want to put him off, the clicker is really helping with this. Maybe we will get there one day in the meantime I will keep going    Helen ;D

I agree Karen, I would have gone stir crazy a long time ago if it wasn't for this forum ;D ;D xx
