My lab is acting strange the past couple of nights,he did the same thing a few months ago.he is 31/2 years old.he sleeps in a room downstairs and always has.he starts jumping around at 2 in the morning for around 2 hours, when I come down to see him he is panting and wagging his tail the way he does when he is playing.he has never done this before a few months ago

Do you think he could be hearing something outside ? One of my dogs was crying to be let out last week , in the early hours, it was a hedgehog in the garden, making snuffly noises . If not , and this continues , I would then be looking at a couple of things , does he have a really good run late afternoon to tire him out ? If so , and it carries on , I might ask the Vet to just check him over . You say he did this a few months ago , did it just stop of its own accord ? Welcome to the forum by the way :)

Hi,thank you,yes he stopped it himself last time.I let him out into the garden last night he wanted back in,when I eventually went back to my bed after about 5 minutes he was jumping about again.this went on for another hour then he stopped.he is not barking or crying just jumping around the room or on the spot

I don't suppose you could have any little visitors in the form of mice etc?......

It didn't coincide with a dose of Drontal did it?
We have just had our 3-monthly madness session! Was much worse than usual and seriously thinking about ditching the Drontal. It sends Mira hyper (more so than normal, that it!) and yesterday we had continuous whining, barking and general unsettledness (is that a word?)

Could be something in your suggestion Julie....especially how you describe him as 'playing' cat....but then I guess it wouldn't have stopped?
Drontal? I don't use it but I didn't know it had that effect.....

Haven't seen any sign of mice etc, also no drontal, there is nothing I can think of to cause him to behave like this.he done the same all night last night again, and seems fine and well today again.
