Just a bit concerned, Poppy was speyed on Friday, but is now swollen around the wound area.
The stiches are all intact and all nice and clean, and she does not seem to be in pain.
She went for a check up and the vet wants to see her again tomorrow, I have kept her rested, even driving her around in the car, just like a baby!!!
However I must admit that stopping her jumping up has been more of a challenge.
Has anybody else had this problem and is there anything I should be doing to help reduce the swelling.

Hi , yes I had the same when my little girl was spayed , and told that it was caused by internal bruising and that it would reduce on its own, which it did . Good thing to check with the Vets if you are worried , and yes , I sympathise re the trying to stop them from jumping around when they begin to feel better !

Holly was done as a keyhole surgery and there wasn't any noticeable swelling. You have my sympathy trying to stop Poppy from jumping. Labs seem to want to get back to normal as soon as the anaesthetic wears off!

Our Poppy also had keyhole surgery, and had no noticeable swelling. I hope your Poppy is feeling better soon!

The one and only bitch I've ever had spayed had a large swelling come up around the op site, which resulted in several daily vet trips to drain the fluid off, it was blamed at first on too much activity, but, turned out she was having a nasty reaction to the internal stitches. When the wound partly burst they decided to operate again and found an abscess had formed. Once cleaned up and stitched using a different material she healed quickly within a few days. I think this is a fairly rare occurrence and some swelling is quite normal, but if it's excessive and the wound looks red or the dog becomes lethargic have a chat with the vet.

Harley had a bit of swelling for a few days. Our vets monitored her every other day but it went down quite quickly.

Thank you, we go back to the vet Tuesday, if the swelling has not subsided they will do a scan.
    Will give an update then.
