Thank goodness it doesn't seem to be the cruciate... Hope the scans etc confirm that. Poor Tarka!!!

Relief it isn't a torn cruciate, hope the painful area resolves quickly poor girl. Vets are human as well as us ;D Having been a vet nurse I could be calm and objective about other animals, but when my own cat was injured I was a jibbering wreck!

Only just seen this Lochan. Poor Tarka, poor you. :(

Glad you don't think it's the cruciate. Hope x ray and scan show it's what you think or preferably better than that.

    Fingers crossed. :)

I was thinking the same as Stacia that vets worry as much as us mortals but then I thought its probably worse for you because you know all the things it could be, all the worse case scenarios etc.

    Take care. :)

Vets are just as soft about our animals as anyone else (if not worse), and knowing forum folk are rooting for her helps.

I'd say that's what got you to Vetenary College in the first place ;D x

I m really glad to hear that it's not as bad as you initially thought.I hope she's a good and understanding girl that you know what's best and are only restricting her so she can enjoy the rest of the Season :-\
Hope your day wasn't too hectic ,with the insight of my new obsession 'Young Vets' I can see what a busy day at the office for you and your profession can really mean!

So glad to hear that you are hopeful that it is not the cruciate. Sounds painful all the same, hope she heals up quickly.

    Re: Tarka's lame again

    Update today.

She has developed a satsuma-sized very painful swelling just below her knee joint. Undoubtedly trauma, I blame the squirrels. She is walking much better, bunny hopping up slopes etc but if she catches it on anything or even lies on it she is very lame again. I have just finished holding a pack of frozen peas on it for a few minutes to try to reduce the swelling, and she tolerates this very well. Lochan of course was trying to eat the frozen peas and had to be locked away......

Ouch! Poor love.....hope it gets better soon and there's no long lasting effects.

and Lochan says he's only trying to distribute the peas more evenly (between his stomach and Tarka's bump ;) )
