Re: Tesco tells guide dog owner to 'get out' I think this was an express store so possibly a franchise. No excuse but Tesco won't have done the staff training themselves. It would amaze me if a proper Tesco trained staff member ever did something like this their equality training is second to none and having been shopping with blind people in their stores both Tesco and sainsburys were very kind and helpful only store did better was Waitrose but their staff to customer ratio is much larger so they have more people available to help.
Re: Tesco tells guide dog owner to 'get out' This just adds to my list of reasons why I never shop or buy my petrol in Tesco
Re: Tesco tells guide dog owner to 'get out' I thought everyone knew guide dogs were allowed in shops. Bad communication and training. I'm sure Tesco will sort it out properly.
Re: Tesco tells guide dog owner to 'get out' I've seen several guide dogs in my local Tesco metro and the staff are always brilliant with them, often checking if the person needs any kind of assistance It does sound like they were very poorly trained!!
Re: Tesco tells guide dog owner to 'get out' They are breaking the law. Tesco need a much more robust training policy for staff. My local store has been great with Gypsy - but that is no excuse for poor training generally.
Re: Tesco tells guide dog owner to 'get out' As I said earlier Tesco have a brilliant training schedule this was a franchise and only as good as the person who bought it. It did make me wonder if it's like our local one and run by a Muslim family, they are very nice people but are very much not keen on dogs in the store, it took a while to persuade them guide dogs are by law allowed in.
Re: Tesco tells guide dog owner to 'get out' Chris told me Tesco have donated £5000 to charity to apologise ......
Re: Tesco tells guide dog owner to 'get out' I must admit too that I wondered if this was a cultural issue. Seems bizarre otberwise to be treated in this way. A donation may make Tesco feel better I guess.
