I don't want to make light of it, but my husband said he was a very sensible dog having his tail shortened as he is tired of being hit by our Lab's tails! I partially heard an interesting point on a programme yesterday, that if a dog wags it's tail to the left it is a happy dog, wagging to the right is that they are worried or not very happy and I notice Dexter wags his to the left ;D

How can you even tell?We are both sitting watching him now to try and work out.....another thing us first time dog owners are clueless about !! He is a labrador that is fed, loved and walked (as Pippa said the other day while telling someone - I forget who - to stop feeling guilty). Re: The appointment is made..... Of course he's happy. He's got it made and he's a very contented and confident young man. Don't worry about the tail wag direction stuff ;D I wouldn't have a hope of telling whether Obi is wagging to the left or right, north, south, centrally or otherwise. The interesting thing about the article is that dogs are super observant and pick up on tiny things, that's all. They no doubt are just as expert at reading us. Dexter definitely has a defter hand with the eye make-up. Obi has shown no restraint whatsoever.

The tail looks neat and tidy, and perhaps surprisingly it doesn't look at all odd. Well done for keeping your spirits up through this whole saga, and for making such a good job of caring for Dexter.
