Re: The appointment is made..... Poor man, they don't like things to be changed around, do they? Hope the leak doesn't take long to fix Angela, in relation to Dexter's impending tiara obsession, I just want to draw your attention to the exceptionally high standard of canine headwear being set by this lady, to which we can only aspire: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1392107/Britains-extravagant-dog-owner-spends-800-bespoke-tiaras-posh-pooch.html
Re: The appointment is made..... The tail will be fine, I'm sure, if a little shorter. As for the other procedure it's less of an issue with a dog then a bitch and this was how Lady managed when she was spayed. - Pick up from vet - dog looking like she had been through a ringer. Felt like a real heal and got something in my eye really badly (men do not cry). - No jumping or running for the next 48 hours (the dog not me). - 24 hours later Lady feeling perky and eats tennis ball - doh!. - £150 later back from vet and luckily all ok as ball in little bits in her gut. Have to check pooh next day with stick. - 12 hours later no need to check with stick as tennis ball has re-emerged big time. - 24 hours later you wouldn't have thought she'd been "done". He'll be fine! ;D
Re: The appointment is made..... Now Rachael.....doesn't that make you glad you live in australia! ;D David that is so funny ,in retrospect ,but goodness grief.....bet you were nearly having a breakdown at the time .....when you are talking about Lady, the picture of her on your poof in the conservatory always comes to mind.......she doesn't look like she has an ounce of mischief creation in her,boy appearances can be deceptive hey? I'm dreading seeing him when I pick him up,I think that will be as bad as leaving him in the first place,I've got his sitter coming with me for a bit of moral. First practice with the comfy cone has NOT gone well.....he is so clever,he bashed himself around the lounge for a bit then ,although I'm sure he didn't ,he looked like he consciously pushed the poof over towards the wall and lay down between it and the wall so he had something supporting both sides of the cone.then he used his paw to push it up so it was over his bottom jaw.....it got stuck at that point so I had to intervene but he fully intended to push it right off over his head...I'll have the video ready when I try again later,he's like a blummin monkey using tools to complete a task!
Re: The appointment is made..... Ah, this is why Dexter is so lucky you're his mum. You worry coz you care so much. He'll be fine. You'll most likely get a written care sheet. You can read and re-read time and time again so that you know you're doing everything you can for him. Does he take tablets okay in case his pain killers are in tablet form? We have to get in a supply of stinky turkey ham for Harry when ever he has tablets- he's a right s0d with them. He was fine after his op, they all were. I could post an 'after' pic of him looking his happy self, but it would not be helpful! ;D
Re: The appointment is made..... Go on TM post one when you get a spare min,you know I love to see Harry! Xxx
Re: The appointment is made..... Okay, just for you. This was taken a year ago, a couple of days after his 'op'. But the title of the pic is 'Harry haircut', so that must have been the last time I upset him with a mums salon special. As you can see always been a happy chap. Doesn't he look really young though?! He's not 2 until April, but he looks like a right old thing these days! Muck, must be.
Re: The appointment is made..... And I don't know why he looks so upset coz this pic is dated a fortnight later - business as usual! Can't see a thing!
Re: The appointment is made..... Aw, thank you. He'd be a right diva if he knew how admired he was! See Dexter, you'll have a shorter tail baby, but it could be worse, you could look like Harry! Be thinking of you on Sunday. Loads of furry hugs. x
Re: The appointment is made..... Dexter is so clever..... Obi suggests Camembert for tablet concealment. Or, if that's no good for Dexter's tummy, chicken breast pieces with a little pocket cut in for the tablet or else balls of lean mince with the tablet inside. Harry's fur grows fast!!!!!! That much in 2 weeks??
Re: The appointment is made.....
Dexter is so clever..... Obi suggests Camembert for tablet concealment. That much in 2 weeks??
Yeah! Seriously. It's probably been a quiff that fell forward. I'm not known for my hairsdressing skills, it has to be said. I think Trevor Sorbie is sleeping well at night still... And Harry reckons cheese is good too, but only if you really squeeze the stuff in the there, otherwise it's too easy to eat the cheese and spit out the tablet! But definitely worth having some sort of 'vehicle' in Angela for medication!
Re: The appointment is made..... Dexter, sorry not to have got back to you sooner, life as always is busy! The Lab who had his tail shortened had a problem with it not healing, so it had to be shortened again quite a bit, he looked like a GSP in the end. That is why I am a wee bit concerned about Dexter having the op. My GSP had to have her tail redocked as bone was sticking out of the end of it!! Poor girl, the second op was painful and we had a lot of trouble with it bleeding. My two Labs have phases of bashing their tales and them bleeding. The oldest one seems to have realised there is a problem and he sort of knows how to control his tail, though he still wags it a lot. The younger one still has not sorted it but his bleeding is less than the older one's was. They heal up and then get bashed and heal up! Dexter's does sound worse though. Just make sure the op is really necessary.
Re: The appointment is made..... Stacia thanks, really appreciate you writing .....Dexter is literally one bash and it's bleeding, there's no wags that connect that don't start it off .my vet has talked to me about taking off a couple of inches despite the site being so small to assist the healing process ......there is more skin then to stitch......I know I fuss over him but I can't see how we can live without it either splinted or bleeding....there's no middle ground .... I hopewe are getting it done for his benefit and not ours...... ??? ....I'm questioning myself a bit
Re: The appointment is made..... Have faith in your decision. You can't go on the way you have, its just not realistic. It is causing stress to you as well as Dex and undoubtedly you will get along much better once its sorted. He won't know any difference. Other than you have stopped obsessing with it. xx
Re: The appointment is made..... Thanks Jacqui you are right ;D I do appreciate everyone's input though, thankyou x
