Re: The appointment is made..... There are so many people thinking of Dexter and of course you, today. I do believe that by this evening the worst will be over and the only way is no up. Please let us know how he is soonest. You have had such a stressful time and I am concerned you have had so little sleep, do take care of yourself when this is all over.

Just dropped him off......took us an hour to sign the form because his tail wound actually looked better today.....we didn't really waver in our decision it just t made us really examine our decision.....both vets sat with us and went through everything( they have got the patience of saints) he is going to lose 2/3 of it,the thinking being it will ensure the most amount of skin for recovery and that it will reduce the wag of the remaining portion so there should never be any more traumas to it. He's got to stay over!!as it's 1.30 pm already here!i came home to get his comfy cone and we took his vet Bed material in and a tshirt....I'm actually quite glad he is there tonight as they can take better care of him than me....... We are now rearranging the lounge into something resembling a padded cell with the garden lounger cushions for when he comes back tomorrow....I've also got some herbal calmex tablets for tomorrow, My sister is popping in with the kids ,they've been banned all week so it's lovely to see them,then I'm going to have a nap and but then he should be all done and out of surgery.....I'll let you all know,you have all been so kind Xxxxxxx

Just think he'll have his own unique style I know you won't be able to not worry today but whenever my dog had an op I tried to think well they are the experts this bit is upto them nothing I can do so don't need to worry. The vets have just called me,Dexter is awake and his surgery was straightforward with no issues....they said he's still sleepy and is staying in until 12 pm tomorrow so that my vet can check him when she comes on duty. The house is horrible without him but we've got the lounge all ready for him to come back to tomorrow .....he must be absolutely bewildered poor lad :'(Chris says knowing Dexter he'll probably just be wondering 'where's my dinner?' ;D Shall we start taking bets how long it is before a 'helpful member of the public' asks me what my Doberman is crossed with?........trying to keep a sense of humour ??? :'( Bye for now xxx

Re: The appointment is made..... Well one hurdle over, now it's the healing. He will do fine - won't be able to lick, and you two are experts at tail wounds dressings!! Hope you are resting and recharging a bit today...glad you got to see the kids and soak up some of their sunshine! Prayers, hugs and happy licks still coming your way from here...
